Vietnamese girl helps Korean people solve flight problem
Vy Hang (26 years old, living in Ho Chi Minh City), a former Korean student, once firmly decided that she would not have a long-distance relationship, and had no intention of dating a foreigner. However, a fateful meeting with Chang Young (Korean) on a flight from Seoul to Vietnam made her change her mind.
Recalling her fateful encounter with the Korean man, the Vietnamese girl likened it to the setting of a movie when she helped two foreign men find their lost luggage on a plane. Hang never expected that one of those two men would now be her husband.

Recalling that fateful encounter, Hang said that at the end of 2017, she and her mother had just finished a trip to Korea and were heading to the airport to return home. On the same flight that day, Chang Young and a friend were also traveling to Vietnam.
"At first, there were only my mother and I sitting in that row. I intended to call an acquaintance in the group to sit with me for fun, but suddenly two foreign men came and sat in the empty seat," Hang recalled.
The plane landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport (HCMC), Chang Young's friend forgot his bag, containing his wallet and many important documents, while packing his luggage. Seeing the foreign guest panic, Hang approached and asked questions, enthusiastically helping the man find his lost items, because she knew Korean.
Hang said that at first she had no impression of the two men from Korea. As for Chang Young, he was clearly attracted to the beautiful Vietnamese girl. He revealed that during the entire time he was on the plane from Korea to Vietnam, he occasionally glanced at the girl's seat.
"I would help anyone in that situation, but I had no intention of getting to know them. After helping them find something, my mother suddenly invited the two guests who had an accident and were as confused as chickens with their hair caught in the middle to eat. Until now, when I sometimes mention it, my mother just laughs and doesn't understand why she did that at that time, when the two of us should have been invited, perhaps because she felt sorry for the two boys in a strange place," Hang shared.

During that entire dinner, Chang Young was just waiting for an opportunity to ask for Hang's number and talk to her. As for Hang, although she was not very impressed with the other person, she still maintained a gentle attitude when Chang Young showed his goodwill to make friends. She politely offered to be their tour guide during their time in Vietnam.
Impressed by the Vietnamese girl, Chang Young decided to express his feelings to Hang as soon as he returned home. Hang said that in the following days, the foreign friend kept sending her messages. She didn't pay any attention, she thought the two were like "strangers going in opposite directions" and had no intention of a long-distance relationship.
"He is a very neat and tidy person and I am afraid of that type of man. Unexpectedly, my mother really likes him, she even talks to Chang Young more than me.
"We are now together thanks to my mother. She is the one who encouraged and "assisted" Chang Young in flirting with her daughter," Hang laughed.
Despite the help of his future mother-in-law, Chang Young's journey to pursue the Vietnamese girl was extremely difficult. Hang said that at first, she was allergic to being followed, and even hated the guy from Korea. With Chang Young, on the contrary, he was determined to pursue her to the end.
"After confessing his feelings to me, Chang Young booked a ticket to Vietnam almost every month to see me. I refused, and no matter how hard I tried to avoid him, my mother secretly informed him of my whereabouts," Hang said.
Sharing about his "love at first sight" with the Vietnamese girl, Chang Young said that from the first time they met on the plane, the image of the Vietnamese girl had completely occupied his mind. He could not take his eyes off the girl sitting in the seat next to him.
"After the incident of losing something at the airport, I gave her my business card, along with a little hope... And that's how happiness has been until now," Chang Young laughed.
In his journey to conquer a Vietnamese girl, Chang Young couldn't count how many times he was rejected. Each time, Chang Young had more motivation to learn Vietnamese so he could talk to his "crush" more, so she could feel his sincere feelings.
Finally, the Korean guy's persistence paid off. On Christmas Eve 2017, sitting in a taxi taking Chang Young to the airport, Hang suddenly felt like she didn't want the man beside her to leave. Unconsciously, she turned to Chang Young and took his hand, starting a serious relationship.
"I think the geographical distance and language barrier were the reasons she rejected me so many times. That Christmas Eve, I almost lost hope and thought it was the last time we would see each other, but unexpectedly, she was moved and responded at the last minute," Chang Young shared.
Mother objected, kicked him out of the house but still determined to marry a Vietnamese girl
The love story of the Korean guy and the Vietnamese girl had just begun when both of them received "cold water" from Korea. The family, especially Chang Young's mother, strongly opposed this relationship because they were afraid that the two would not get along and would suffer in the future.
"No matter how I tried to convince my mother, it didn't work. One time, when we were in a tense situation, she kicked me out of the house. A few months later, when things had calmed down, I secretly brought my girlfriend and her mother home to meet my parents. My mother's reaction left me speechless.
During that face-to-face meeting, not only did she not object, she also really liked the Vietnamese girl I chose. Without even asking our opinion, the two mothers discussed marriage," Chang Young said.

Through many ups and downs, Chang Young proposed to his girlfriend on their 2nd anniversary. The couple got married at the end of December 2019.
During her days as a Korean daughter-in-law, Hang encountered many difficulties in communicating with her husband's family. She also suffered from culture shock in Korea. However, she gradually won over her mother-in-law with her gentle nature and willingness to learn. In her free time, Hang tried to improve her Korean to integrate and become closer to her husband's family.
"Completely contrary to my initial worries, Chang Young's family is very open and loving towards their daughter-in-law. After the wedding, we lived separately but always felt the care from my husband's family. Every holiday, the whole family gathered together like a Vietnamese family.
I feel lucky to have met the man of my life, he always respects his wife and is a solid support for me. I am even happier because my mother-in-law is very understanding and loves her daughter-in-law very much," Hang shared.

Currently, the couple lives in Ho Chi Minh City, has a lovely son and enjoys a sweet marriage. It was Chang Young who suggested that they return to Vietnam to start a business. He always shares the housework and supports his wife wholeheartedly in her work.
"Whenever we have free time, my husband and I still fly to Korea to visit my husband's family. I am very grateful to him for always listening to me, respecting my opinions, and especially for being very indulgent with me," Hang said.
