Meritorious Artist Hong Vy was born in 1979 in Hai Lang, Quang Tri, the daughter of the late People's Artist Doan Tan and singer Minh Hong. Hong Vy is one of the prominent faces of revolutionary chamber music.

With a beautiful voice and soaring notes, Hong Vy has won many awards in the singing field. Her three solo albums: Hoa lua va Vy, Vinh quang Viet Nam and Giac mo mua la are all highly appreciated not only in the chamber music genre but also in the general music market.

In June 2019, the Meritorious Artist discovered that her ovarian cancer had reached stage 4. After surgery and chemotherapy, the cancer index decreased and the female singer felt healthy again. Not giving up, the singer born in 1979 still strongly faced the disease, doing her usual singing and teaching jobs. The female singer also appeared optimistic and rarely shared about her illness with everyone.

By March 2021, the cancer index gradually increased, Hong Vy's health gradually declined. In the last days of her life, Meritorious Artist Hong Vy had swelling in both legs, cancer cells spread throughout her body, and her intestines became necrotic.
