The first time releasing a vinyl record, People's Artist Mai Hoa said that when listening to Bass Note, the audience will feel 'peaceful on the sofa', not 'lonely on the sofa'.
Singer Mai Hoa just released the LP album Bass Note Vol 1 on the evening of December 26 in Hanoi. This is a music album that the artist has been working on for about 3 years and took half of 2023 to record.
The vinyl record includes 8 songs: Parting (musician Dzoan Man), Old Afternoon Shadow (Duong Thieu Tuoc), Loneliness (Nguyen Anh 9), I Visited You on a Rainy Afternoon (To Vu), Nameless Song No. 1 (Vu Thanh An), Return Day (Hoang Giac), My Village (Van Cao), Rainy Day (Van Cao).
Bass is the trademark of Mai Hoa
Someone said "everyone chooses high notes, but I choose low notes". Mai Hoa shared that the name of the LP Low Notes reflects her typical musical style, which tends towards depth and emotion.
Although she wanted something brighter, Mai Hoa ultimately chose Not Bass as the title because it suited her husky voice and personality. "Not Bass is not only a musical style but also my vocal brand," the artist said.
In this product, Mai Hoa said she sings more leisurely and peacefully, instead of singing with more sadness like before.
"The songs are all sad but cheerful. When listening, the audience will feel at peace on the sofa, not lonely on the sofa," the comedian said humorously.
Connect through "the icon of the 20th century recording industry"
Why did Mai Hoa choose to release new music products in vinyl format?
Along with the trend of popularizing music products in the digital age, music lovers are diversifying and personalizing their enjoyment.
This has "revived even the icons of the 20th century recording industry and breathed new life into them."
Mai Hoa told Tuoi Tre Online that she "not only wants to bring quality music products but also wants to share genuine emotions and connect with the audience."
"Enjoying vinyl records in a special space will bring a musical experience unlike any other," said the artist.
On the other hand, by making a pre-war music LP, she wanted to "honor classic musical works and the contributions of artists to Vietnamese music".
The vinyl was mixed and mastered by Duy Nghia within half a year.
According to the artist, the special feature of this product is that the recordings are as natural and raw as possible, with almost no effects.
The disc is made in the US and "has been in production queue for more than half a year", and has the highest weight and quality of vinyl records today.
The bass note is a 200 gram version, instead of the usual 180 gram or lower. Mai Hoa said she wanted "a vinyl record as thick as her voice."
In addition to vinyl format, Bass Note is also released on popular digital platforms in lossless quality (the best quality audio format).
