Not only is it one of the most beloved operas, "Carmen" also breaks all dance conventions with its contemporary imprint, the creativity of big ideas and the boldness of the music, in which the familiar melody of the opera is vividly transformed by rearranging it for strings and percussion, as shared by People's Artist Kim Quy .

The work "Carmen" has connected audiences from different cultures around the world, primarily due to its timeless story focusing on love, freedom and choices that defy consequences but are full of romance. Bringing the work to audiences in Ho Chi Minh City, People's Artist Kim Quy introduced artist Nguyen Thu Trang to play the role of Carmen, Meritorious Artist Ho Phi Diep transformed into Don José and Dang Minh Hien played the role of Escamillo.

Bringing "Carmen", a classic 19th century opera by French composer Georges Bizet to the stage, People's Artist Kim Quy has high expectations for the young and vibrant dance artists of Ho Chi Minh City: "I put my trust in them, because youth can easily influence the artist's qualities to create miracles. The art of dance needs top-notch works, and a stage for young artists to rise up."

People's Artist Kim Quy herself is a symbol of the spirit of persistent artistic labor in the city's dance scene at the age of 74. She studied dance since the age of 11 at a prestigious dance school in Hanoi. In Russia, the land of ballet, symphony, and diverse dance arts, she studied dance, literature, philosophy, history, music, painting... with 29 subjects very seriously, and obtained a red diploma.
