AFP quoted a rescue worker as saying that 18 people were confirmed dead after an explosion at a fireworks factory in Suphan Buri province in central Thailand on January 17.

Police told Reuters that about 20 people were killed in the explosion on the afternoon of January 17. Provincial officials said no survivors had been found.
Meanwhile, Kritsada Manee-In of the Samerkun Suphan Buri Rescue Fund told The Washington Post that workers were verifying the exact number of casualties but estimated that between 15 and 17 people had died.

In July 2023, a massive explosion at a fireworks warehouse in the town of Sungai Kolok in the southern Thai province of Narathiwat killed nine people and injured more than 100. The blast was so powerful that it damaged more than 500 houses in the surrounding area.
