Need to stop researching and producing Covid vaccine

On the morning of May 29, continuing the 5th session, the National Assembly discussed the mobilization, management and use of resources for Covid-19 prevention and control; the implementation of policies and laws on grassroots health care and preventive medicine.

Speaking at the discussion, citing the report of the National Assembly's Supervisory Delegation on the mobilization, management and use of resources for the prevention and control of the Covid-19 epidemic; the implementation of policies and laws on grassroots health care and preventive medicine, delegate Nguyen Anh Tri (Hanoi delegation) emphasized that the report appreciates the joint efforts and consensus of the people, individuals and collectives that have contributed to the fight against Covid-19, which is a great effort, a spirit of great national solidarity, love and compassion.

"I hope the Government will follow the spirit of Resolution 30 and Resolution 43 of the National Assembly to settle the epidemic prevention budget for the forces with localities, units and individuals who have participated in the fight against Covid-19. We should do better in commending and rewarding those who have participated in the fight against the epidemic," said delegate Tri.

National Assembly Deputy Nguyen Anh Tri speaks at the discussion session.

Regarding the shortcomings, according to delegate Tri, the report of the monitoring delegation confirmed that there were serious violations in the prevention of Covid-19. Among them, there were violations in fields that seem to have very few violations, such as medical research, acceptance, and technology transfer.

"There are some spectacular scams as sharp as a knife like that of Viet A Company, the organization that produces test kits is really painful, really condemnable. The price is too expensive, too high," said the Hanoi delegation.

The delegate emphasized that anyone who embezzles, is corrupt, or is embezzling money in the fight against Covid-19 must be severely punished. However, those who make mistakes must be dealt with fairly, not for personal gain but to save patients in a timely manner, in accordance with the spirit of the Party and the National Assembly.

The Hanoi delegation proposed: "This should be stopped to stabilize the situation so that officials can confidently carry out new tasks."

In addition, he also asked the Ministry of Health to pay attention to the production of test kits and vaccines for epidemics. According to Mr. Tri, Vietnam cannot be inferior to the world, especially in the region, because it is necessary to prevent emerging epidemics.

"I suggest stopping research and production of Covid-19 vaccines in Vietnam, because it is too late to produce this vaccine now. We need to buy good vaccines at reasonable prices and enough to vaccinate the people," Mr. Tri suggested.

Proposal to honor individuals and groups in the fight against the epidemic

Speaking at the meeting hall, delegate Hoang Ngoc Dinh (Ha Giang delegation) gave comments on the management, use and mobilization of resources for epidemic prevention work in the army.

As one of the core forces participating in epidemic prevention, the delegate said that from the beginning, the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense have drastically mobilized resources and over 192,000 soldiers with professional qualifications, meeting the requirements of epidemic prevention practices, supporting localities to effectively control the epidemic, participating in epidemic prevention through many different tasks: performing medical examination and treatment, isolating citizens, vaccinating, actively participating in ensuring social security, etc.

In addition to the achieved results, delegate Hoang Ngoc Dinh also pointed out that there are still many limitations and that is also a lesson for responding to situations similar to the recent Covid-19 pandemic.

Delegate Hoang Ngoc Dinh proposed to continue reviewing and proposing to honor and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in epidemic prevention and control.

That requires a synchronous and unified plan in mobilizing and dispatching human resources and private forces; policies for forces participating in management; failure to promptly reward exemplary examples in epidemic prevention work...

Therefore, delegate Hoang Ngoc Dinh suggested that the Government and localities continue to review and propose to honor and reward collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in participating in epidemic prevention work.

The delegate said that this is a very appropriate regulation, especially in the context that our country has just experienced an unprecedented pandemic in history with many lessons on how to respond to epidemics, catastrophic diseases, natural disasters, and wars, including lessons on being proactive.

Regarding the regime and policies for indirect forces participating in epidemic prevention and control, delegates proposed that the Government, the National Assembly, relevant agencies and organizations consider supplementing policies and increasing preferential allowances for drivers, administrators, accountants and other staff in the preventive health system .
