At the conference, delegates listened to Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong present information on the topic "Overview of the socio-economic situation in 2024, forecast of the situation and socio-economic development plan in 2025". Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy Nguyen Hung Son presented information on the topic "Overview of the world situation, foreign affairs and diplomacy activities of the Party and State in 2024, forecast of the world situation and foreign affairs and diplomacy tasks in 2025".
Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Tran Quoc Phuong said that in the context of many difficulties and challenges, under the close and timely leadership and direction of the Central Executive Committee, directly and regularly by the Politburo, the Secretariat, headed by the General Secretary; the close accompaniment and coordination of the National Assembly and agencies in the political system; the flexible, timely, effective, and clear-focus management of the Government and the Prime Minister; the support and active participation of the people and the business community; and the help of international friends, our country has achieved important and quite comprehensive results in 2024; achieved and exceeded all 15/15 main targets set by the National Assembly.
Many important indicators and indexes on growth, economic scale, GDP per capita, inflation, labor productivity, enterprises, FDI attraction, culture, social security, employment, people's lives, etc. achieved outstanding results.
The economy has confirmed a rapid and strong recovery; GDP growth for the whole year is estimated at 7.09%, higher than the target (6 - 6.5%), a bright spot in growth and among the group of high-growth countries in the world and region... Total import-export turnover for the whole year increased by 15.4%, among the 20 economies with the largest trade scale in the world. Trade surplus is estimated at 24.77 billion USD.
The work of perfecting institutions, mechanisms, policies and laws has been focused on and implemented resolutely with innovative thinking in thinking and working methods, promoting decentralization and delegation of power; focusing on reviewing and removing difficulties, obstacles and bottlenecks, creating a transparent and favorable legal environment for development...
The positive results of 2024 are an important premise for the economy to accelerate and reach the finish line in 2025, completing the highest goals in the 5-year Socio-Economic Development Plan for the 2021-2025 period.
In the special topic "Overview of the world situation, foreign affairs and diplomacy activities of the Party and State in 2024, forecast of the world situation and foreign affairs and diplomacy tasks in 2025", Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy Nguyen Hung Son said that last year, Vietnam maintained a peaceful, stable and developing national situation and was assessed by international public opinion as one of the "bright spots" in the region.
Vietnam's foreign affairs and diplomatic activities in 2024 will be proactively and actively implemented, achieving many substantive results, creating a new foreign policy stature, creating favorable momentum for the country to enter the era of national development.
In the current rapidly and profoundly changing security and development environment, all countries are facing the need to strengthen cooperation and association to jointly solve urgent common problems. In that spirit, Vietnam has shifted from the policy of "participation and participation" to promoting the role of "active and responsible member", initiating and leading many initiatives and cooperation ideas and proactively participating in building and shaping global governance, frameworks and laws in many fields. The international community highly appreciates Vietnam's capacity, role and practical and responsible contributions to common issues, as UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres assessed: "Vietnam is a model of peace and sustainable development".
Also at the conference, delegates listened to a report summarizing oral propaganda work and reporter activities in 2024 and the Central Propaganda Department's Guidelines for oral propaganda work and reporter activities in 2025.
In his concluding remarks, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Phan Xuan Thuy suggested that in 2025, the entire Propaganda sector, the team of reporters and propagandists continue to seriously implement Directive No. 30 dated February 5, 2024 of the 13th Party Central Committee Secretariat on oral propaganda work in the new situation; focus on improving quality, creating clear changes in information provision activities to serve the Party's oral propaganda work; diversify methods, improve the effectiveness of oral propaganda forms; advise Party committees to develop plans to direct and organize propaganda activities to celebrate major holidays and important historical events; propagate party congresses at all levels towards the 14th National Party Congress in appropriate and practical forms associated with propaganda to carry out political tasks in 2025.
Regarding propaganda work in January 2025, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Phan Xuan Thuy requested the team of reporters to propagate according to Instruction No. 184-HD/BTGTW, dated December 31, 2024 of the Central Propaganda Department and information provided by Mr. Tran Quoc Phuong, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment; Acting Director of the Diplomatic Academy Nguyen Hung Son at the conference.
Along with that, the team of reporters focused on propagating the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of Vietnam (February 3, 1930 - February 3, 2025); summarizing and implementing the results of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, dated October 25, 2017 of the 12th Party Central Committee on a number of issues on continuing to innovate and reorganize the apparatus of the political system to be streamlined, effective and efficient; and a number of other important contents.
On this occasion, the Central Propaganda Department commended collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in oral propaganda work and reporter activities in 2024.
