Gold buyers suffer heavy losses

This morning (July 21), the price of plain round gold rings remained at 77.1 million VND/tael, the price of SJC gold bars was 80 million VND/tael. The continuous fluctuations in gold prices last week caused buyers to lose 1.2 million VND/tael.

Opening the trading session, Saigon Jewelry Company listed the price of plain round gold rings at 75.7 - 77.1 million VND/tael, unchanged from the trading session on July 20.

In the Hanoi market, Bao Tin Minh Chau Company listed the highest price for plain round gold rings compared to other brands, at 75.93 - 77.23 million VND/tael for buying and selling.

The domestic gold price stagnated due to the world gold price plummeting. After reaching a record high of 2,742 USD/ounce (equivalent to 77 million VND/tael), the world gold price fell to 2,400 USD/ounce (equivalent to 74.5 million VND/tael).

The difference between the buying and selling price of plain round rings is 1.3 - 1.5 million VND/tael (depending on the gold brand). The continuous fluctuations in gold prices last week caused gold buyers to lose 1.2 million VND/tael.

With SJC gold bars, 4 state-owned banks (Agribank, BIDV, Vietcombank, VietinBank) and enterprises simultaneously listed 78.5 - 80 million VND/tael for buying and selling.

After 6 weeks of stagnation, the price of SJC gold has just experienced a week of fluctuations, increasing by 3 million VND/tael. Although the price of SJC gold has increased sharply, people still find it difficult to buy SJC gold. Enterprises have run out of SJC gold to sell, state-owned banks sell gold online.

On the currency market, July 21 fell on a weekend, the State Bank kept the central exchange rate unchanged at 24,246 VND/USD. At commercial banks, the USD exchange rate was around 25,158 - 25,458 VND/USD.
