The record sentence comes after several years of Thailand stepping up its enforcement of the lese majeste law.
An appeals court in the northern city of Chiang Rai sentenced Mongkol Thirakot, 30, to a total of 50 years in prison for posts on his personal Facebook account.
Thirakot was initially sentenced to 28 years in prison by a lower criminal court, but was later convicted of 11 additional charges on appeal, resulting in a longer sentence.
Thirakot, the owner of an online clothing store, was first arrested in 2021 during a protest.
Youth-led protests in 2020 and 2021 saw tens of thousands of people take to the streets, many demanding changes to the lese majeste law.
