Artist Vu Hai (real name Vu Duc Hai) grew up in a family with a long history of photography in Vinh Phuc province. In addition to photography, he has also worked in the cultural industry for 40 years. This helps him understand a lot about national culture, quickly capturing artistic moments of life, and the subtlety for a beautiful photographic work.

With over 45 years of experience in the field of photojournalism and art photography, NSNA Vu Hai brings the breath of life into his works, connecting with current events, creating vivid and valuable photos. He is the author of two photo books "Vinh Phuc - Motherland" and "My Country Vietnam" with more than 700 works, considered a valuable archive of documents about the life of Vietnamese people recorded since 1980.

In 2017, NSNA Vu Hai organized the exhibition "Vietnam, my country" in Hanoi with 108 art photos. A year later, he continued his personal photo exhibition with the theme "Vietnam on the road we travel" with 199 works, receiving high appreciation from the public and colleagues.

The success of the creative career of NSNA Vu Hai comes from his perseverance and persistence. He has gone through hundreds of trips to all parts of the country to search for beautiful moments of nature, people and life; to learn about the customs and cultural practices of the Vietnamese ethnic groups.

In the works: "Mu Cang Chai Tourist Area", "Dragon Procession", "Ripe Rice Season", "Rice Carrying"..., artist Vu Hai recorded the natural scenery, the beauty of the labor of ethnic minorities in the highlands. The typical cultural features of the ethnic minorities in the Red River Delta associated with traditional festivals, worship beliefs... are also quite numerous in his works.

In the field of photojournalism, artist Vu Hai exploits moments expressing thoughts and feelings between people, sending many humane messages.

When sending photos abroad to compete, artist Vu Hai hopes to introduce Vietnam's landscapes and tourist attractions to international friends. Through the competitions, he also wants to send a message about the dangers of toxic chemicals in war, clearly shown through the photos: "Feeding porridge to dioxin victims", "Taking care of dioxin patients", "Bathing Agent Orange victims"...

In early April 2023, National Artist Vu Hai was awarded the record "The person with the most world photography exhibition awards" by the National Record Organization. Chairman of the Vietnam Record Organization Council Le Doan Hop commented that National Artist Vu Hai contributed to Vietnamese photography with works of art that are both deeply humanistic and topical.

80 years ago, at the corner of Mieu Street in Lap Thach District, Vinh Phuc Province, a couple named their children Hoa, Lu, Binh, Minh. Later, the family of the child named Lu named their photo studio Binh Minh Hoa Lu. They raised 8 children to be educated and contributed 7 members to the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists. Among them, artist Vu Hai was awarded many titles: E.FIAP - outstanding photographer of the World Federation of Photographic Art, E.VAPA - outstanding photographer of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists, HON.AFNGN, HON.FPMP...
