Mr. Michael Nguyen emphasized the long-term cooperation between the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and Boeing Company as 2025 marks 30 years of Boeing's presence in Vietnam.

Vietnam's aviation industry began operating Boeing aircraft in 1995 when Vietnam Airlines leased three Boeing 767-300ERs.

Over the past 25 years, the Vietnamese aviation industry has operated Boeing 737-400, Boeing 767, Boeing 777-200ER, Boeing 787-9 and Boeing 787-10 aircraft with absolute safety. Currently, Vietnam Airlines is operating 17 Boeing 787 aircraft.

Currently, Boeing and Vietnamese airlines have reached an agreement (MOU) on the purchase of Boeing 737 MAX aircraft. Specifically, Vietjet has agreed to purchase 200 B737MAX aircraft (expected to be delivered from July 2025) and Vietnam Airlines is in the process of discussing the purchase of 50 737MAX aircraft.

The Civil Aviation Authority hopes that Boeing will speed up the delivery of aircraft to meet the needs of Vietnamese airlines in expanding and developing their fleets in the coming time. This will not only help airlines improve their operational capacity but also contribute to the overall development of the Vietnamese aviation industry.

In the new development stage of the country, the Vietnamese aviation industry needs to continue to innovate, improve competitiveness, and deeply integrate into the global value chain.

The Civil Aviation Authority believes that Boeing can play an even more important role in supporting Vietnam in achieving these development goals in key areas such as: Training and education of high-quality human resources (Boeing continues to support the training and education of pilots, engineers, technical staff and aviation experts with high professional qualifications, safety supervision resources of aviation authorities); gradually mastering science and technology and developing the aviation industry; sharing experiences and transferring advanced technology in the field of aircraft design, manufacturing, operation and maintenance with the hope that Vietnam can gradually participate more deeply in the global supply chain of the aviation industry and develop self-reliance in certain areas of the aviation industry; developing aviation maintenance and repair (MRO) capacity in Vietnam (this is a field with great potential and strategic significance for the sustainable development of Vietnam's aviation industry); Infrastructure development, digital transformation in aviation activities in Vietnam to improve management efficiency, enhance competitiveness and improve aviation safety assurance in Vietnam...

Mr. Michael Nguyen affirmed that Boeing is committed to supporting the Vietnamese aviation industry through strengthening its partnership with the Authority. Boeing also wishes to hear more about the requirements and expectations of the Authority to continue to improve and better fulfill its role in supporting airlines in the region.
