The Lunar New Year holiday lasts 9 days and the weather is favorable, so tourism activities are vibrant and bustling in almost all tourist destinations in the country. The number of visitors and tourism revenue in the provinces tend to increase compared to last year.
According to statistics from the Hanoi Department of Tourism, from January 25 to February 2, the number of tourists increased by 6% over the same period last year. Of which, the number of international visitors was about 142,000 (an increase of 15.8% over the same period in 2024), including major markets such as China, South Korea, Taiwan (China), the US, the UK, Malaysia, India, Germany, France, Japan, etc.
Domestic tourists are about 859,000 (up 5% over the same period in 2024), mainly people from the capital and some neighboring localities such as Vinh Phuc, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang, Thai Nguyen... traveling to the capital at the beginning of the year. Total revenue from tourists is estimated at 3,530 billion VND (up 7.85% over the same period in 2024).
Also according to statistics, tourism to Da Nang during the Lunar New Year is estimated to reach more than 469,000 arrivals, an increase of 16.7% compared to the 2024 holiday, an increase of 3.2% compared to the report before the holiday.
In particular, international visitors are estimated to reach more than 228,000, an increase of 29% compared to the 2024 holiday; domestic visitors are estimated to reach more than 241,000. Total tourism revenue in Da Nang is estimated to reach 1,887 billion VND, an increase of 19.4% compared to the 2024 holiday.
Ninh Binh Department of Tourism said that during the 9-day Lunar New Year holiday, Ninh Binh province is expected to welcome a total of 700,490 visitors (an increase of 17% compared to 2024), including 130,700 international visitors.
During the Lunar New Year of At Ty, the city center and famous tourist attractions of Ninh Binh province welcomed a large number of visitors. Typically, Hoa Lu ancient capital welcomed more than 8,500 visitors, Bai Dinh pagoda welcomed more than 70,000 visitors, Trang An welcomed 25,000 visitors, Thung Nham welcomed nearly 20,000 visitors, Hoa Lu ancient town welcomed more than 45,000 visitors, Tam Coc area welcomed nearly 9,000 visitors, and Mua cave welcomed nearly 4,000 visitors.
Quang Ninh province welcomed nearly 970,000 tourists, with revenue reaching VND2,600 billion. Of which, international visitors reached nearly 230,000, domestic visitors reached over 740,000, and international overnight visitors reached nearly 140,600. Many large groups of visitors arrived by road, sea and air in the first days of the year.
Vietnam National Tourism Administration also stated that major travel agencies such as Hanoitourist, Saigontourist, Vietravel, Du Lich Viet, Benthanh Tourist... have developed many new tour programs both domestically and internationally with many attractive programs and promotional forms; in which, they focus on highlighting regional advantages, linking development in the direction of "one route, many destinations", diversifying services to increase revenue during Tet.
Another notable trend is that foreign tours continue to be of interest to many Vietnamese tourists, with the top choices including the Northeast Asian market (China, Taiwan, Japan and South Korea), followed by the Southeast Asian market (Thailand, Singapore) and Europe and the US.
Some localities with international seaports have organized to welcome cruise tourists during the Lunar New Year 2025: Da Nang welcomed the Crystal Symphony and Silver Dawn ships bringing 1,800 American and British tourists to visit destinations in the city; Quang Ninh welcomed 04 cruise ships Mediteranea, Celebrity Solstice, Silver Dawn and Crystal Symphony with a total of 6,000 passengers and 4,000 crew members to "break ground"... Positive signals from cruise tourism right from the first days of the year promise a year of many successes for this important international tourist stream.
This year's Tet tourism market has witnessed many train tour products on the routes Hanoi - Lao Cai, Quang Binh or Ho Chi Minh City - Nha Trang, Hue, Da Nang, etc. The railway industry has launched the "Spring Train" bringing many interesting experiences: welcoming New Year's Eve on the train with a countdown program, participating in folk games, enjoying typical Tet dishes, etc. At the same time, proactively increasing more trains on the North - South route as well as local trains to serve travel needs during the 2025 Lunar New Year.
