With the goal of improving the quality of education and training, serving the cause of caring for and protecting people's health, Son La Medical College always focuses on theoretical education and vocational skills training for students, the core factor that helps students confidently work. In particular, the Excellent Student Competition is held annually, not only helping students practice their skills, but also providing them with an opportunity to improve their knowledge, professional capacity and communication skills - important factors for a future medical staff.

Participating in this year's contest, 182 candidates are 2nd and 3rd year students majoring in nursing, pharmacy and midwifery. They have gone through 2 parts of the exam: theory and practice. In the theory part, candidates take a multiple choice test, answering 60 questions about knowledge of their majors within 60 minutes.

Sung A Thenh - Nursing College Class 13D, Son La Medical College : "I learned a lot from this contest and reviewed a lot of knowledge and practical skills; I learned a lot about the knowledge I learned from my first year until now, and I can review a lot."

86 excellent candidates were selected after the theoretical exam to participate in the practical exam of running the station with 5 basic technical procedures, including: intravenous infusion, temporary fixation of leg fractures, external cardiac compression, deep intramuscular injection... In the behavioral exam, candidates demonstrated their communication and behavioral skills, love for the profession and enthusiasm of medical staff in the work of taking care of people's health. This is an opportunity for candidates to apply book knowledge into practice.

Lo Thi Kieu Van - Midwifery class 10, Son La Medical College : "This excellent student contest will help us and other excellent student contestants review the knowledge we have learned from the first year until now and after graduation, we will have good professional skills."

According to the Organizing Committee’s assessment, this year’s contest has properly assessed the contestants’ abilities, thereby reflecting the school’s educational and training results. At the end of the contest, the Organizing Committee awarded 14 first prizes, 25 second prizes and 15 third prizes to the contestants.

Lo Kim Tuyen - Class K12A of College of Pharmacy, Son La Medical College : "I learned more knowledge from teachers and friends. I learned many things. I will try to overcome my weaknesses and make more efforts. I feel that the competition is very meaningful for us students."

Ms. Lo Thi Kieu - Vice Principal of Son La Medical College : "In addition to promoting the learning movement, the contest also aims to improve the training quality of the school. The contest has created a playground for students to participate and attracted a large number of students to participate. Through this contest, many excellent students, many active participants, and typical participants in the school's emulation movement have been found."

The excellent student contest is organized annually by Son La Medical College to promote the emulation movement of good teaching, good learning, and learning while doing in the school. At the same time, through the contest, students can innovate their learning methods, improve their knowledge, practice skills close to reality, and improve their professional skills after graduation. This is also an important basis for the school to implement solutions to improve the quality of training medical human resources./.
