7th grade boy was assaulted and injured by his friend

On September 9, Mr. Ho Minh Phuc (53 years old, residing in Nam Can Hamlet, Lai Hoa Commune, Vinh Chau Town, Soc Trang) said that his family had sent a petition to the authorities of Bac Lieu City, along with the Board of Directors of Vo Thi Sau Secondary School (Ward 3, Bac Lieu City), requesting verification and clarification of the fact that his son had been repeatedly assaulted by a group of classmates, using sharp objects to cause injuries.

Mr. Phuc's son is HMT (12 years old, grade 7/8 student, Vo Thi Sau Secondary School). At noon on September 7, when picking T. up from school, he discovered that his son's two arms had been slashed many times with sharp objects by classmates (including NGH), causing bleeding. The students also threatened T. not to tell her parents, otherwise they would continue to beat her.

According to Mr. Phuc, in the last 6/8 grade school year, T. was assaulted 2-3 times by his friends, causing injuries to his arms and legs. When his family asked, he hid it, saying that he fell while playing with his friends. After the assault, T. appeared confused, worried, and scared, not daring to meet his friends. Mr. Phuc asked the school to force the group of students to pledge not to threaten or assault his son again. At the same time, the parents asked the school to transfer T. to another class so that his son could study in peace.

Mr. Phan Thanh Trung, Principal of Vo Thi Sau Secondary School, said that after receiving the complaint, on the morning of September 9, the school invited T.'s parents and the parents of the student who directly assaulted T. to a meeting. At the meeting, the school admitted that T. was assaulted by a friend. Specifically, on September 7, a student used a ruler to cut T.'s hand, injuring him. Afterwards, T. was taken to the school's medical room to clean his wound.

According to Mr. Trung, the school has admitted its shortcomings. At the meeting, the representative of the parent whose child assaulted the friend also accepted responsibility for educating the child and apologized to Mr. Phuc. The school also forced the student who assaulted the friend to make a commitment not to repeat the offense. At Mr. Phuc's request, the school arranged to transfer T. to another class.
