The agricultural sector aims for a GDP growth rate of 3.3-3.4% in 2025; total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reaching 64-65 billion USD.

In 2024, the GDP growth rate of the whole industry is about 3.3%, higher than the Government's assigned level of 3-3.2%. Total export turnover of agriculture, forestry and fishery products is 62.5 billion USD, trade surplus is 17.9 billion USD; setting a new record in both total export turnover and trade surplus (accounting for about 72% of the trade surplus of the whole economy).

During the year, 11 items continued to maintain export turnover of over 1 billion USD, of which 7 items reached over 3 billion USD, including wood and wood products (16.2 billion USD), vegetables and fruits (7.12 billion USD), rice (5.75 billion USD), coffee (5.48 billion USD), cashew nuts (4.38 billion USD), shrimp (3.86 billion USD), rubber (3.46 billion USD).

The industry has stepped up trade promotion and market opening. It has focused on effectively exploiting exports to traditional markets such as China, the United States, Japan and the EU; developing new markets such as Halal, Africa, etc.

Along with that, the "One Commune One Product" (OCOP) program has developed strongly (the number of OCOP products with 3 stars or more reached over 14,600 products, an increase of over 3,500 products compared to 2023).

According to Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Phung Duc Tien, Vietnam's agricultural sector went through 2024 with many emotions, from worries about the global logistics chain being affected, to pain because of the severe consequences left by Typhoon Yagi, and finally the joy when the whole sector reached an export turnover of 62.5 billion USD. This figure far exceeded the agricultural, forestry and fishery export target of 55 billion USD in 2024. Even compared to the general development orientation of the total export value of Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery products reaching about 60-62 billion USD by 2030, the whole sector reached the finish line 6 years early.

In 2025, the agricultural sector sets a target of GDP growth rate of 3.3 - 3.4%; total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reaches 64 - 65 billion USD.

To achieve these goals, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Le Minh Hoan emphasized solutions to create development space and new growth drivers; Continue to promote industry restructuring, improve productivity, quality of agricultural products and production and business efficiency;

At the same time, it is necessary to strongly develop the domestic and export markets for agricultural, forestry and fishery products; build value chains for each type of agricultural product, associated with the development of agricultural and rural logistics infrastructure, ensuring the domestic market supply chain.

" One of the important solutions is to promote research, transfer and application of science and technology, especially high technology and clean technology in production; develop and improve the quality of human resources; proactively integrate internationally to open the market ," said Minister Le Minh Hoan.
