US media quoted Israeli officials as saying that Israel's retaliatory attack on October 26 did not target energy infrastructure or nuclear facilities. US President Joe Biden previously said Tel Aviv had the right to defend itself and respond to the Israeli attack, but he stressed that he did not support Israel attacking Iran's nuclear or oil facilities.
The White House and the US Department of Defense have been in close discussions with Israel in recent days about the scenario of an attack on Iran, including the scale and the chosen targets, according to The New York Times . Previously, US officials were upset that Israel did not tell the US in advance about the plan to attack Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.
Iranian media reported no explosions or fires at the Tehran oil refinery following the Israeli attack, and operations at Tehran's two airports were operating normally.
