The US airstrikes targeted missile depots, command and control facilities, drones and anti-ship cruise missiles of the Houthi forces in Yemen to disrupt and weaken their capabilities.

Reuters on December 22 quoted a statement from the US military's Central Command saying that its forces had just conducted precision airstrikes on a missile depot and a command-and-control facility of the Houthi forces in the capital Sanaa of Yemen.
The December 21 attack was aimed at "disrupting and weakening Houthi operations, such as attacks on US Navy warships and merchant vessels in the southern Red Sea, the Bab al-Mandeb Strait and the Gulf of Aden."
In addition, the US military said it attacked multiple Houthi unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and an anti-ship cruise missile in the Red Sea. The US operation involved the country's air force and navy, including F/A-18 aircraft.
The airstrike followed a similar attack last week by US aircraft on a command and control facility of the Houthis, who control much of Yemen.
Earlier, the Israeli military admitted it was unable to intercept a missile fired from Yemen towards the Tel Aviv-Jaffa area on the morning of December 21, while emergency services said 16 people suffered minor injuries from shrapnel and some were taken to hospital.

The Israeli military said it had conducted a “preliminary investigation into the incident in which a missile fell from Yemen” and that specific details were still being worked out. Channel 12 reported that the Houthis reduced explosives and added fuel to ballistic missiles to increase the chances of reaching Israel and avoiding detection.
The Houthis regularly launch attacks on ships in the area and raids on Israel, in a show of support for the Palestinians and in opposition to Israel's military campaign in the Gaza Strip.
A Houthi spokesman said the force had hit "a military target" in the Jaffa area with a ballistic missile.
Earlier on December 19, Israel attacked ports and energy infrastructure in Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, and announced that it would continue to attack.
