Explaining clearly about the bonus level for the military, Lawyer Diep Nang Binh, Head of Tinh Thong Luat Law Office, said that the evaluation of results and classification of task completion are carried out according to regulations of the State and the Ministry of National Defense.
According to Article 3 and Article 4 of Circular No. 95/2024 of the Ministry of National Defense guiding the implementation of bonus regimes for subjects receiving salaries from the state budget under the management of the Ministry of National Defense, the Tet bonus level applied to the military may include annual periodic bonuses or extraordinary bonuses if eligible.
With periodic bonuses. In case the subjects are evaluated and classified as having excellently completed their tasks: In 2024, the bonus is 4 times the basic salary; from 2025 onwards, the bonus is 8 times the basic salary.
In case the subjects are evaluated and classified as having completed their tasks well: In 2024, the bonus is 3.5 times the basic salary; from 2025 onwards, the bonus is 7 times the basic salary.
In case the subjects are evaluated and classified as having completed their tasks: In 2024, the bonus level is equal to 1.5 times the basic salary; from 2025 onwards, the bonus level is equal to 3 times the basic salary.
Note that the basic salary from July 1, 2024 is 2,340,000 VND/month.
In case of receiving salary from the state budget for 7 months or more: The bonus level is equal to 1 time the bonus level prescribed in points a, b and c of this clause; in the year of receiving salary from the state budget for less than 7 months: The bonus level is equal to ½ time the bonus level prescribed above.
Example 1: Comrade Nguyen Van A. is a professional soldier from August 1, 2025 with the rank of Second Lieutenant; the time for evaluating and classifying professional soldiers in 2025 of Comrade A.'s unit is from November 1, 2024 to October 31, 2025 at the level of completing the task well.
At the time of the unit's assessment and classification in 2025, Comrade A. had an actual working time in 2025 of 3 months (from August 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025). Comrade A received a periodic annual bonus in 2025 of 3.5 times the base salary.
Example 2: Major Tran Thi C. is on maternity leave from October 1, 2024 to April 1, 2025; the time for evaluating and classifying the 2025 cadres of Comrade C's unit is from November 1, 2024 to October 31, 2025 with the level of completing the task well.
At the time the unit evaluated and classified the staff in 2025, Comrade C had an actual working time in 2025 of 7 months (from April 1, 2025 to October 31, 2025). Comrade C. received a periodic annual bonus in 2025 of 7 times the base salary.
Bonus
Lawyer Diep Nang Binh, Head of Tinh Thong Luat Law Office, also informed that in addition to regular bonuses, people in the military can also receive unexpected bonuses if they fall into the following cases:
Firstly, when there are outstanding work achievements made in unforeseen circumstances, occurring outside of the plan or outside of the regular tasks that the individual is assigned to undertake.
Second, when establishing outstanding work achievements and being considered by competent authorities for promotion and salary increase ahead of schedule but holding the highest rank of the position or title held; Holding the last salary grade in the current salary type or group or if the outstanding work achievements are reserved but there is not enough working time left to be promoted and salary increase ahead of schedule or at the same time having other achievements that meet the conditions for consideration for promotion and salary increase ahead of schedule, in addition to the bonus according to regulations, an additional amount of money equal to one month's salary as the basis for social insurance payment calculated at the time of establishing outstanding work achievements will be considered for reward.
