Portugal coach Jose Mourinho has declared his readiness to lead any team to return to work this summer.
On March 24, when asked if he had a new job, Mourinho replied: "No, not yet. I don't have a club and I'm still free. But I want to go back to work this summer."
Before becoming famous in England and Italy, Mourinho led three Portuguese clubs: Benfica, Uniao De Leiria and FC Porto. He has not ruled out the possibility of returning to Portugal to work.
"Never say no, especially in football," Mourinho added. "My life is football. I can coach anywhere, no problem."

Mourinho has been out of work since being sacked by Roma on January 16. Roma's fall to ninth in Serie A was the reason for his dismissal. After replacing Mourinho with former captain Daniele De Rossi, the Olimpico outfit lost just two of their 13 games, moving up to fifth in Serie A and into the Europa League quarter-finals.
At the beginning of the 2023-2024 season, Mourinho shared about turning down an attractive offer to stay at Roma. According to the Portuguese press, this offer could be from Al Nassr - the Saudi Arabian club that owns Cristiano Ronaldo, Sadio Mane, Marcelo Brozovic and Aymetic Laporte.
Mourinho rose to prominence after guiding FC Porto to the 2004 Champions League, the UEFA Cup and two Portuguese league titles. He then won three Premier League titles with Chelsea, a Champions League, a treble, two Serie A titles with Inter, La Liga with Real Madrid, the Europa League with Man Utd and the Conference League with Roma. Mourinho is the only manager to have won all three of UEFA's current trophies: the Champions League, Europa League and Conference League.
However, in recent years, Mourinho has been criticized as being outdated and no longer suitable for big clubs. Man Utd at the end of 2018 was the last big club of the "Special One".
Mourinho has never managed a national team. If Roberto Martinez leaves Portugal after Euro 2024, the 61-year-old could have the chance to play for his country.
