The new guava variety in Soc Trang bears fruit continuously throughout the year with very high productivity, which can reach 50-60 tons/ha/year. The new guava variety produces fruit with deep red flesh, few and soft seeds, fragrant, sweet and crunchy to eat.
Mr. Tran Anh Nhan - Director of My Phuoc Agricultural and Community Tourism Cooperative (Ke Sach district, Soc Trang province) informed Dan Viet reporter that the cooperative has a new guava variety that is very delicious and has great development potential.
According to Mr. Nhan, this new guava variety can bear fruit after 6 months of planting, and can be harvested starting in the 8th month. In particular, this guava variety bears fruit all year round, especially with a very high yield, the inside is deep red, crispy, with few seeds and soft, fragrant, and sweet.
"Unlike other guava varieties on the market today, this new guava variety flowers continuously throughout the year, without any rest period, and every flower bears fruit. Therefore, the guava yield is very high, reaching 50-60 tons/ha/year, with 3-5 fruits weighing 1 kg," said Mr. Nhan.
Mr. Nhan further emphasized: "This guava produces terrible, unimaginable fruit. Even overripe fruit does not get waterlogged like other varieties in the Mekong Delta."
Mr. Nhan named the new guava variety as super pink crispy guava. Although this is a very easy-to-grow plant, it is not picky about soil. However, super pink crispy guava should only be chosen as a secondary crop, and can be intercropped with star apple or other fruit trees with the goal of short-term profit to support long-term profit.
My Phuoc Agricultural and Community Tourism Cooperative in Ke Sach District has built a super crispy pink guava growing area of about 10 hectares. This area is in the fruiting stage and is contracted by the cooperative at a price of 10,000-12,000 VND/kg.
According to the orientation, My Phuoc Agricultural and Community Tourism Cooperative will sign contracts with businesses to export super crispy pink guava to many countries around the world.
