On October 12, in Brussels, the Embassy - Delegation of Vietnam to Belgium and the European Union (EU) held a book launch ceremony "Some theoretical and practical issues on socialism and the path to socialism in Vietnam" in Dutch.
The event was attended by Ambassadors, Charge d'Affaires from ASEAN countries, China, Cuba, the Diplomatic Corps, representatives of the Belgian Labour Party, the Vietnam-Belgium Friendship Association, and representatives of the Vietnamese community in Belgium.
Speaking at the ceremony, Ambassador, Head of the Vietnamese Delegation to Belgium and the EU Nguyen Van Thao emphasized that since the founding of the country, the Vietnamese people have chosen the path of building a socialist Vietnam, with the goal of a rich people, a strong country, a fair, democratic and civilized society. From a colony with no name on the world map, Vietnam has become an independent, self-reliant country with a role and position in the region.
Vietnam has established diplomatic relations with 193 countries; has strategic partnerships and comprehensive partnerships with 33 partners, and is a strategic partner with all permanent members of the United Nations Security Council.
Economically, from a poor country under embargo, Vietnam has become a dynamic economy, an important link in global economic links, closely connected with more than 230 markets and established a network of more than 500 cooperation agreements in various fields, including 17 bilateral and multilateral FTAs.
Socially, from a backward country with famine and 90% of the population being illiterate, Vietnam is now always among the countries with the highest Human Development Index (HDI) growth rate in the world.

The Ambassador affirmed that in the process of its development, Vietnam has always recognized and appreciated the solidarity, friendship, and valuable support and assistance of international friends. In a globalized world, enhancing exchanges, cooperation, and respecting differences are even more important. Vietnam always wants to share and cooperate with international friends to build a world of peace, stability, and sustainable development, bringing happiness to the people.
The Ambassador expressed his honor to organize the book launch ceremony and emphasized that Vietnam wishes to share both theoretical and practical experiences through the book for international friends to refer to, thereby increasing mutual understanding and working towards common goals.

Speaking at the ceremony, Chinese Ambassador to Belgium Cao Zhongming highly appreciated Vietnam's development over the past 80 years under the leadership of the Communist Party of Vietnam. The Ambassador affirmed the importance of the friendly neighborliness between the two countries. The two countries have established a comprehensive strategic partnership and regularly exchange and cooperate in the fields of politics, economics, culture and education.
General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and General Secretary and President Xi Jinping have a close personal relationship, and General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong is also the first person to officially visit China after the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China.
Ambassador Cao Zhongming expressed his honor to attend the book launch ceremony of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong and believed that under the leadership of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, Vietnam will continue to achieve many achievements, people's lives will be more prosperous, the economy will continue to develop and Vietnam's position in the international arena will be enhanced.

Mr. David Prestieau, Head of the Political Department of the Belgian Labour Party (PTB), expressed his love for Vietnam. He highly appreciated Vietnam's remarkable development, especially the achievement of the United Nations' millennium goals.
Vietnamese socialism has outlined the right path for Vietnam throughout its development process, bringing the country forward and helping people escape poverty. In particular, the recent Covid-19 pandemic has shown that Vietnam's correct policies and actions in protecting people, controlling the epidemic and recovering the economy are much more effective than many other countries in the world.
Mr. Davi Prestieau believes that Vietnam's path to socialism will continue to bring achievements to the country, and he and the PTB Party share the values of Vietnamese socialism, wishing to join hands to build a fairer and more sustainably developed world.

The ceremony took place in a solemn and cozy atmosphere.
