In Quang Binh province, more than 18,000 first graders returned to school a week early to get acquainted with the school and curriculum before the new school year. This morning, primary schools organized welcoming ceremonies for students in various forms such as performing arts, games, giving gifts, etc.

At Hoa Phuc Primary and Secondary School, Minh Hoa mountainous district, Quang Binh province, teachers and students held a brief and solemn opening ceremony, which was meaningful as a happy festival for students. At the opening ceremony, the school principal beat the drum to signal the start of the new school year and read the President's congratulatory letter. After that, students returned to their classes, organized activities, and played together, creating a joyful atmosphere.

Teacher Pham Quang Hung, Principal of Hoa Phuc Primary and Secondary School, Minh Hoa District, Quang Binh Province said: “The facilities have ensured that the new school year will continue as normal. The work of welcoming first graders is carried out in accordance with the direction of higher authorities, returning to school 2 weeks earlier than the opening day.

"The school assigns the task of welcoming first graders to teachers with experience, enthusiasm, responsibility, and dedication to their profession to ensure that the students are happy and aware of the new learning environment, which has changed but is very familiar, so that they can study with peace of mind," said Mr. Hung.

The mountainous district of A Luoi, Thua Thien Hue province currently has 45 educational institutions with more than 13,000 students at all levels, of which more than 90% are ethnic minorities. For students in difficult circumstances, the Department of Education and Training of A Luoi district has raised funds to "Help the poor" to support them to go to school. The Department of Education and Training of A Luoi district has directed schools to coordinate with local authorities and the Border Guard force to effectively mobilize children to go to school.

Ho Thai Nhu Y, a 9/2 grade student at A Luoi Ethnic Boarding Secondary School, Thua Thien Hue Province, said: “After the opening day of the new school year, I feel very happy to see my old friends again. After the opening day, this new school year, my friends and I will try to study hard, be more obedient, try to pass the provincial school entrance exam, and help our parents in the future.”

In Da Nang city, schools held very brief and solemn opening ceremonies. Da Nang city leaders assigned each other to attend the opening ceremony of the new school year, presenting flowers to congratulate on the first day of school. According to the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang city, up to now, the school network in the area has been solidified, ensuring green, clean and beautiful.

Mr. Mai Tan Linh, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of Da Nang City, said: The school's physical facilities, classrooms, and equipment for teaching and learning are increasingly being invested in and improved: "We have directed all schools in the city to organize a respectful and brief opening ceremony that expresses joy, creating the best mindset for students and teachers. The Department of Education and Training has advised the city's leaders to build, upgrade, and expand schools in the period from 2021 to 2025. Up to this year, 230 projects have been implemented in this overall project. Up to this point, most districts, counties, and Departments of Education and Training have prepared facilities for students to study 2 sessions/day".

Entering the new school year, the Education sector of Quang Nam province faces many difficulties in school facilities. Currently, the province is short of 2,387 teachers, mainly in remote areas and ethnic minority areas. The implementation of investment disbursement in schools has been decentralized, but the disbursement rate of projects is too low. At Nuoc Oa Boarding School for Ethnic Minorities, Bac Tra My District, Quang Nam Province, the facilities have seriously degraded, and delayed repairs have also affected teaching activities.

Mr. Nguyen Xuan Anh, Principal of Nuoc Oa Ethnic Boarding School, Bac Tra My District, Quang Nam Province said: “The repair of school facilities to serve the new school year is delayed compared to previous years because the mechanism is now a bit more difficult because the school has to carry out bidding procedures for repairs. This is the most difficult problem at present, but we have carefully prepared other conditions for the new school year.”

In Quang Ngai province, the opening ceremony of the new school year took place briefly. Quang Ngai province leaders assigned each other to attend, present flowers and gifts to congratulate the opening day.

Tran Thi Diem Hang, an 11th grade student at Tran Quoc Tuan High School in Quang Ngai City, said: “Like many other students, I and everyone else feel very excited and emotional. I feel happy because I get to meet new friends, meet new teachers, and meet my old friends. I want to go back to school and continue my new journey.”

On the opening day of the new school year in Binh Dinh province, teachers and students of Nguyen Huu Quang High School, Cat Tien town, Phu Cat district received much joy. Nearly 800 students of Nguyen Huu Quang High School were able to study in a new, spacious and well-equipped school; the facilities were fully equipped to meet the needs of teaching and learning, and the students were able to go to school closer and more conveniently.

At the opening ceremony this morning, Mr. Tran Van Hai, Principal of Nguyen Huu Quang High School, sent special feelings to the 12th grade students, because this is the last opening ceremony in their high school life.

“In the 2024-2025 school year, the school will focus on teaching methods, effectively using technology and information for students. For grade 12, in order to achieve quality, the school regularly organizes seminars to find teaching methods suitable for students,” said Mr. Tran Van Hai.

In Khanh Hoa province, the biggest difficulty at present is the shortage of teachers. The province is short of 659 teachers compared to the assigned target.

Mr. Vo Hoan Hai, Director of the Department of Education and Training of Khanh Hoa province, said that while waiting for the temporary assignment of the number of workers, the Department and localities have transferred teachers from places with surplus to places with shortage, allowed teachers to teach in inter-schools, and immediately implemented the recruitment plan.

“After recruiting teachers at all levels, the teacher shortage has been basically resolved. However, there is still a shortage of teachers in some localities. The Department will focus on resolving this issue by transferring teachers in places with surplus and shortages, to basically meet the requirements of the 2018 New General Education Program,” said Mr. Vo Hoan Hai.
