Every year on the 7th and 8th of January, the Muong ethnic people in Na Bai village, Chieng Yen commune, Van Ho district enthusiastically organize the opening festival, this is a long-standing community cultural and religious activity.
The opening festival of the Muong ethnic group in Na Bai village is divided into two main parts: the ceremony and the festival. The ceremony is a ritual to worship the gods who have protected and blessed the people with good health, bountiful crops, a prosperous new year, and good things for the people. From early morning, the villagers have prepared everything including: pork, chicken, sticky rice, wine... all solemnly displayed on a tray of leaves for the shaman to represent the villagers to perform the rituals of praying to the gods according to the identity of the Muong ethnic group.
Mr. Mui Van Duc - Party Cell Secretary, Head of Na Bai Village, Chieng Yen, Van Ho, Son La: Every year, the village management board regularly organizes the opening festival to pray for favorable weather, bountiful crops, and warm clothes for the people. In addition, the village management board also hopes that the authorities from the commune to the district will always pay attention and promote tourism in the Na Bai village community in general and the village's festivals so that more tourists from all over the world will come to visit and travel to the village.
The festival took place with folk games associated with the daily life of the local people. The festival included fun activities, folk game competitions, and performances of folk art forms such as: Xoe competition, men's and women's football, throwing con... The most exciting part was the fish catching competition, where the teams demonstrated their ingenuity and solidarity to achieve the best results.
Ms. Ha Thi Hoa - Na Bai Village, Chieng Yen Commune, Van Ho, Son La : I am very happy to participate in this festival. We have united to catch fish together. We really hope that visitors from near and far will always support and join in the fun with the villagers.
Through the development process and the ups and downs of history, the Khai Ha Festival has been deeply imprinted in the cultural and spiritual life of the Muong community in Na Bai village. Up to now, people still preserve and maintain many traditional values, being a place where cultural and historical heritages crystallize and converge, attracting a large number of locals and tourists every festival season.
Mr. Ha Trong Hieu - Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Chieng Yen Commune, Van Ho, Son La: In the coming time, the Party and the People's Committee of the commune will focus on directing the village to upgrade and renovate the village temple, promote and carry out communication work so that domestic and foreign tourists know about this festival so that at the beginning of the year, tourists will come to visit, thereby promoting the development of community tourism of the commune, contributing to socio-economic development.
Through the festival, people can learn an important part of local history in the customs and practices of the Muong people with long-standing rituals and ceremonies. The Khai Ha festival of the Muong ethnic group contains many cultural heritage values, contributing to educating the tradition of patriotism and national pride. Preserving and promoting the cultural values of the Muong ethnic group in Na Bai village, Chieng Yen commune in particular, and the Muong ethnic group in Van Ho district with friends near and far./.
