In recent days, the weather in the province has been constantly changing, with some days when the temperature has dropped sharply , causing an increase in the number of children and the elderly being hospitalized due to respiratory infections. Recorded at Phu Yen District General Hospital .

Baby Vi Moc Tra, 5 months old, residing in Mo 2 sub-area, Quang Huy town, was taken to the emergency room at the district general hospital by her family in a state of continuous high fever, mild cough, and fussiness. The baby's mother said: after examination, the doctor concluded that the baby had bronchitis and prescribed aerosol and antibiotics. After treatment, the baby has now stopped fussing and is being monitored by doctors.

Mother of baby Vi Moc Tra, Mo 2 Hamlet, Quang Huy Town, Phu Yen District, Son La Province: " I also hope that the baby will recover soon so that he can return to his family. I also have advice for parents not to be subjective. When you see any symptoms in your child, you should take them to the nearest medical facility for timely examination and treatment."

Baby Tra is just one of dozens of children with respiratory diseases who have been hospitalized recently. It is known that since the Lunar New Year, the Pediatrics Department has been treating an average of 50-60 children every day, an increase of 30-50% compared to normal days, of which 70% of children have respiratory diseases.

Doctor Bac Van Pan, Head of Pediatrics Department, Phu Yen General Hospital, Son La Province : Our medical staff also work hard to treat patients in the best way possible, avoiding cases where they have to be transferred to higher hospitals for treatment. Families should also keep their children warm during these cold weather days.

Not only children, recently, respiratory diseases have also "attacked" the elderly, causing the number of elderly people hospitalized to increase. In the Department of Internal Medicine, Cardiology - Geriatrics, if on normal days the department only maintains care and treatment for about 40 patients, after Tet, the number of patients has increased to nearly 60 people, mainly suffering from diseases such as: pneumonia, acute bronchial asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, blood pressure, cardiovascular.

From January 15 to February 10, the number of children under 15 years old treated at Phu Yen District General Hospital was 195 cases, an increase of 37%; the number of people over 60 years old hospitalized was 205 cases, an increase of 31% compared to December.

Specialist Doctor Cam Van Hien, Deputy Director of Phu Yen General Hospital, Son La province: " During the days of erratic weather with deep cold temperatures, respiratory diseases in children and the elderly increase. During the days of deep cold temperatures, it is recommended to wear enough warm clothes. If there is no need, you should stay at home, limit going out, and improve your nutrition to have enough health to prevent diseases."

Authorities also recommend that for respiratory diseases, people should proactively get vaccinated annually to increase resistance; do not arbitrarily buy antibiotics to treat children and the elderly with symptoms of cough, flu and fever or use old prescriptions many times; when the patient has a high fever that lasts for 2-3 days without decreasing, coughs a lot, and eats poorly, they should be taken to a medical facility for timely treatment to avoid serious disease progression./.
