The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued a plan to organize the Kate Festival at the Po Sah Inư tower relic in 2023. Accordingly, the festival will take place on October 13-14, 2023 and will be solemnly organized in accordance with the traditional customs of the local Cham people, with the participation of the Cham community throughout the province.
The festival consists of a ceremony and a festival. The ceremony is the main and core content, conducted by Cham religious dignitaries of Ham Thuan Bac district, with a ritual of praying for peace at the main tower and the Cham people, performing a dance ritual, inviting the gods; the ritual of welcoming the goddess Po Sah Inư's costume to the main tower; opening the tower door, bathing the Linga - Yoni altar, wearing costumes and a grand ceremony to thank the goddess Po Sah Inư and the gods. The festival includes folk games such as rice pounding competition, water-carrying obstacle course, blindfolded pot-breaking, Saranai trumpet playing, decorating offerings on Thonla and Co Bong to worship the goddess Po Sah Inư, and Cham folk art exchange performed by Cham folk art troupes from Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, Ham Thuan Nam, Ham Tan, Tanh Linh districts and Bien Xanh Music and Dance Theater.
These are activities to continue to preserve, maintain and promote the value of the national intangible cultural heritage “Kate Festival of the Cham people in Binh Thuan province” to meet the cultural enjoyment needs of the people and tourists. At the same time, promote, introduce and exploit the valuable traditional cultural and folk art capital of the Cham people in Binh Thuan in general and the Kate Festival at Po Sah Inu tower in particular to serve tourism, promote local culture, economic and social development...
