Thanks to building a brand, this Tet holiday, molasses products from Tho Dien commune (Vu Quang, Ha Tinh) are selling out as soon as they are made.
Visiting Tho Dien molasses village these days, everyone can clearly feel the traditional Tet atmosphere. Molasses furnaces operate at full capacity day and night to produce the best quality molasses. Mr. Bui Dinh Loi (village 5, Tho Dien commune) shared: "The molasses pressing profession in Tho Dien has existed and developed for more than 50 years. Currently, the whole commune still has about 100 households maintaining this traditional profession."
Mr. Loi excitedly said: "Thanks to building a brand, Tho Dien molasses is increasingly trusted by consumers. Although there are still about 20 days left until Tet, we have already sold out, more than 2 tons of molasses have been "closed" by customers in and outside the province at the price of 70 thousand VND/liter (equivalent to 1.4 kg). The whole family is making the most of the time, trying to work hard to deliver orders to customers on time."
With many years of experience in making honey, Mr. Loi said that to make good honey, you have to stand and watch the pan for many hours, stirring continuously and evenly. When the honey boils, skim off the scum. If you are not careful, the honey will burn, turn black and not be delicious. When the sugarcane juice starts to thicken and turn golden brown, the honey is finished cooking.
Having just finished a batch of molasses, Mr. Nguyen Van Anh (village 1, Tho Dien commune) shared: "My family has been making molasses for nearly 20 years. In fact, making molasses today is not as hard as in the past, and the income is much higher than other jobs. In recent years, demand has increased, so each Tet holiday, my family sells more than 2 tons of commercial molasses, bringing in a good income."
With the tradition of the craft village combined with diligence and constant innovation in production methods, Tho Dien people are creating good quality molasses products, both meeting customer needs and increasing income for the people.
At Son Tho Molasses Service Cooperative in Village 1 (Tho Dien Commune), the production atmosphere is very urgent. Mr. Luong Sy Duc - representative of the cooperative said: "This time before Tet, on average, we can press about 5 tons of fresh sugarcane per day, and cook about 400 liters of commercial molasses. Thanks to the successful development of 3-star OCOP products, all products produced are ordered by customers and traders."
With the application of modern machinery in production and hygienic processing procedures, the molasses products of Son Tho Molasses Service Cooperative are sold at a price of 70,000 VND/liter.
According to Mr. Duc, since the beginning of the Tet molasses season, the cooperative has produced more than 40 tons of molasses to supply to OCOP stores and customers in and outside the province. By introducing modern machinery into production and ensuring hygiene in processing procedures, the cooperative's molasses products are increasingly trusted by customers.
It is known that the whole Tho Dien commune currently grows more than 30 hectares of sugarcane. This is the main source of raw materials to produce delicious molasses to serve the Tet market.

To stabilize the output of molasses products, in addition to traditional sales channels, many other molasses-producing households in the commune have used social networking sites such as Facebook, Zalo... to connect with the market. Thanks to that, the product is known to more people.
