Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan suggested that Kyodo News continue to increase the provision of information and images so that the Japanese people as well as international friends can better understand the country and people of Vietnam.

On the afternoon of August 3, at the Presidential Palace, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan received Mr. Toru Mizutani, President of the Japanese news agency Kyodo News and his delegation who are visiting and working in Vietnam. Also attending the reception was General Director of the Vietnam News Agency (VNA) Vu Viet Trang.

Speaking at the reception, Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan highly appreciated the visit of Kyodo News President Toru Mizutani to Vietnam at a time when the two countries are holding many meaningful activities to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations.

Over the past 50 years, Vietnam-Japan relations have been continuously consolidated, developed dynamically and deepened. Vietnam and Japan have political trust, cultural similarities and achieved strong development cooperation results in recent times.

Vietnam always considers Japan as a leading strategic partner in economic development. Japan is the largest ODA donor, the third largest investor, the third largest tourism partner, and the fourth largest trade partner of Vietnam.

During the current period, Vietnam and Japan have always maintained a relationship of trust. Even during the time affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the leaders of the two countries have chosen appropriate ways to conduct high-level exchanges, ensuring comprehensive cooperation.

Vietnam is continuing to reform administrative procedures, improve the investment and business environment, enhance competitiveness, and is always ready to accompany and create favorable conditions for foreign enterprises and investors, including Japan, to expand their business and operate effectively and long-term in Vietnam.

The two sides have also made substantial progress in bilateral cooperation in many areas, including security, agriculture, science and technology, education and training, environment, climate change response, labor, construction, information and communication technology, health, culture, tourism, sports, local exchanges and people-to-people exchanges. Currently, the Vietnamese community in Japan has more than 470,000 people living, working and studying.

The Vice President said that the activities within the framework of this visit, including the signing of a professional cooperation agreement between the leaders of VNA and Kyodo News , and the photo exhibition "50 years of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relations: Towards the future, Reaching the world" have contributed to realizing the instructions and common perceptions of the leaders of the two countries on implementing specific measures to promote the Vietnam-Japan extensive strategic partnership.

Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan believes that on the basis of the good cooperative relationship between Vietnam and Japan, the two news agencies will promote the achieved results, enhance professional exchanges, share operational experiences, widely disseminate information in the digital environment, contributing to deepening the Vietnam-Japan Extensive Strategic Partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia in the new period.

Appreciating the information and propaganda activities on bilateral relations in recent years of VNA and Kyodo News , Vice President Vo Thi Anh Xuan suggested that the two news agencies continue to innovate content and cooperate effectively in the context of strong development of information technology and digital transformation; and suggested that Kyodo News continue to increase the provision of information and images so that the Japanese people as well as international friends can better understand the country and people of Vietnam.

Kyodo News President Toru Mizutani emphasized that over the past 50 years, the Vietnam-Japan relationship has been increasingly strong, not only in politics and diplomacy but also in many fields, for the common interests of the two countries.

Mr. Toru Mizutani said that Vietnam has been quite successful in preventing and fighting the Covid-19 pandemic, while still ensuring economic development, so there are many advantages in cooperating to send workers to work in Japan as well as attracting investment.

Kyodo News President said that in recent times, the agency has cooperated closely with VNA in terms of expertise to promote communication activities, contributing to tightening the traditional relationship between the two countries. Kyodo News leaders have just held talks and signed a cooperation agreement with VNA on digital and professional content, aiming to ensure effective information cooperation, as well as contribute to the common development of the world.

The President of Kyodo News also affirmed that he will continue to increase information about the country, people, and potential of Vietnam to attract investors in Japan as well as around the world...
