Gen Z is bringing a new, ambitious and authentic perspective to the workplace. Gen Z wants to build a solid foundation for sustainable development, considering every step of their work.
According to the survey, when asked which employers they would like to work for, the top three priorities were development opportunities, a healthy working environment and financial stability. When asked which organisation best helps them develop themselves, 33% of Gen Z in the UK want a comfortable and flexible working environment.
Despite being supported by technology, which is considered a tech-savvy generation, having grown up with the internet and social media, Gen Z workers still want to focus on improving the human experience. 77% of Gen Z surveyed believe that AI will help them develop new skills. But only 50% of Gen Z surveyed in the UK said that AI will have a positive impact on their career, much lower than the global rate of 61%.
In addition, the encouraging sign is that health is a top priority for Gen Z. When asked if they would accept a lower salary to have a better work-life balance, up to 62% of Gen Z answered yes. Although the overall rate of 68% considers work to be the most important part of life, this figure varies by geographic region, with less than 60% of Britons and 50% of Germans feeling the same way.
Gen Z is also always looking for the right leaders to follow. They want to be listened to, learned from, and inspired. According to the survey, at the top of the list of leaders Gen Z is looking for is a leader who motivates and inspires others (52%), shows empathy and care (46%).
Research also shows that 76% of Gen Z employees in the UK see the workplace as a place to build community, social connections and a sense of belonging. Being able to collaborate and be part of a team is what they enjoy most, but if they feel like they no longer fit in a certain environment, they are willing to leave without feeling guilty!
