The province's economy and society achieved positive results.

(BD) - On the afternoon of April 16, the Provincial People's Committee held a press conference to inform about the socio-economic situation in the first quarter and socio-economic development tasks in the second quarter of 2025. Regarding the socio-economic situation in the first quarter, Vice Chairman of Lam Hai Giang Provincial People's Committee said that thanks to the synchronous implementation of solutions with high determination, the province's socio-economic results have been extremely positive. Gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the first quarter of 2025 is estimated to increase by 7.51% over the same period. Industrial production activities continue to maintain growth rates, the index of industrial production (IIP) is estimated to increase by 9.46% over the same period. In particular, the number of new projects and registered investment capital in the province has grown dramatically. The whole province has attracted 31 new projects with a total registered capital of more than 12,000 billion VND. Compared to the same period last year, the number of newly attracted projects increased by 138%, the total registered investment capital increased more than 5 times.

The province's export turnover of goods is estimated at 452.4 million USD, reaching 26.5% of the yearly plan, up 8.3% over the same period. Total state budget revenue is over 4,274 billion VND, reaching 24.5% of the yearly estimate, up 48.4% over the same period. The number of tourists reached over 3.2 million, up 14.8%, tourism revenue increased 15.1% over the same period.

Trade and service activities were quite bustling thanks to the province organizing many activities during holidays, Tet and cultural and sports events in 3 months. Total retail sales of goods and service revenue in the first quarter was over 29.6 trillion VND, reaching 23.4% of the yearly plan, up 8% over the same period. Cultural and social activities continued to have positive changes; social security was ensured; national defense and security were maintained.

Currently, the Provincial People's Committee is focusing on directing the drastic, synchronous and effective implementation of 6 key solution groups in all fields, striving for the province's gross regional domestic product (GRDP) to increase by over 8% in the first 6 months of 2025.

At the press conference, representatives of the Department of Finance and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism answered, analyzed and clarified issues that reporters were interested in, such as: Handling of violations in the Safe Vegetable Production Project in Van Canh District; investment progress in implementing the Phu Hoa Lake Urban - Tourism - Culture - Sports Project and the Ngo May Road Extension Project; promoting the formation of a free trade zone in the planning area of Phu My Industrial Park connecting Phu My seaport; the impact of the US tax policy on the province's industries; the management and handling of public real estate facilities after merging provincial departments and branches and when Binh Dinh province merges with other provinces; the proposal to register the Fishing Festival in Nhon Hai as a national intangible cultural heritage...
