(Dan Tri) - 7dnight's "It's Okay" has been taking over the global short video platform. His performance also reached 1 billion views on TikTok, receiving enthusiastic support from international stars.
Khong Sa Ca is a song by 7dnight - a member of BigTeam - performed in the Breakthrough round of Rap Viet season 4. The catchy music of only about 30 seconds with the lyrics "Gwenchana ding ding ding ding" by Khong Sa Ca unexpectedly created a fever in the world in the past month.
After the phenomenon of See Tinh by Hoang Thuy Linh, once again, the Vietnamese song was covered by many international stars such as The Black Label Somi and Karina (aespa), Enhypen, Ateez, Seventeen, Jeon Somi...
So, why can just one song become a hit, causing many international stars to "follow the trend"?

Sharing with Dan Tri reporter, rapper Ha Le said that the reason why the song "Gwenchana ding ding ding ding" in " Khong sao ca" became so famous was first of all because of the saying "Gwenchana" which had been spreading on social networks before.
This phrase comes from a Korean movie, then many people used it as a trend and humorously parodied it.
"Besides, in my opinion, the music written by 7dnight - a person who has lived and worked in Korea - becomes more meaningful and familiar than anyone else.
When 7dnight put "Gwenchana" into the song " It's Okay" with a catchy, attractive, memorable and easy-to-learn melody, along with very naive but humorous choreography, that was also a factor that made the music easily spread," the male rapper said.
Sharing the same view, musician Truong Giang also expressed that music has no distance but a common voice. When a piece of music that listeners find good, catchy, with simple but attractive and memorable choreography, it is very easy to spread, creating a cover trend.
Sharing from a media perspective, expert Hong Quang Minh said that "Khong oc ca" is a typical example of how platforms like TikTok can create a cultural explosion, where the viral factor is more important than the complete song.
Mr. Hong Quang Minh said that the reason why "Nothing's Okay" has become such a global sensation comes from many factors.
Karina (aespa) "follows the trend" It's okay (Video: TikTok aespa_official).
According to this expert, the first factor to mention is the melody and rhythm of the music that is very "addictive". The phrase "Gwenchana ding ding ding ding ding" has a repetitive rhythm, is easy to remember, and is similar to an earworm (a melody that sticks to the brain).
Additionally, the combination of "Gwenchana" (it's okay) - a word familiar to K-pop fans (Korean youth music fans) and the rhyme behind it - creates an attractive effect like the classic hooks of Psy, Crayon Pop or even Baby Shark.
Second, the choreography is simple but stimulates participation. The hand movements are easy to perform, a bit humorous, and easy to imitate, which is the decisive factor for the spread. Like See Tinh , or further, Gangnam Style , a move can become a global trend if it is easy to remember and easy to perform.
Third is cultural exchange. The song has Korean elements "Gwenchana" but comes from a Vietnamese singer, creating curiosity. This is also in line with the Asian Pop trend, where the Asian market is fond of highly entertaining songs, not heavy on content but more on emotion.
And finally, the TikTok algorithm and viral effect. Mr. Minh analyzed that TikTok has a mechanism to prioritize short, catchy content that is easy to integrate into other videos. When a video reaches a certain level of popularity, it does not stop at TikTok but spreads to Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and Facebook.
Talking about the fact that international stars are responding and using the background music of "It's Okay", expert Hong Quang Minh said that TikTok has an algorithm that prioritizes content that is easy to spread. When a trend reaches mass adoption, it will appear on the FYP boards of many international artists.
Minh said K-pop stars regularly update TikTok trends to maintain interaction and connect with fans. Songs that are popular in Asia, especially with Korean elements like "Gwenchana", are more likely to be noticed.
The phrase "Gwenchana" made many audiences think that this was a Korean song. This also unintentionally stimulated curiosity and was easily accepted by K-pop idols.
Korean artists tend to follow Asian trends, especially when they are gaining momentum in markets like China, Southeast Asia, etc.
"Due to the competitive environment of K-pop girl groups, aespa, Le Sserafim, NewJeans always have to update trends to maintain their social media coverage. Interacting with fans is an important strategy and covering a hot trend is an easy way to maintain recognition.
Previously, many K-pop stars in particular and international stars also "followed the trend" of Vietnamese songs such as: See Tinh (Hoang Thuy Linh), Hai phut hon (rapper Phao) or Ha con vuong nang (DatKaa, Kido)", the expert shared.

Regarding the fact that some netizens believe that the song Khong oc ca only became famous thanks to the Korean part "Gwenchana", causing many international audiences to mistake it for Korean music, musician Truong Giang commented: "In essence, our Vietnamese language is not popular in the world. Therefore, music listeners or world stars are attracted to a piece of music not based on the culture of that country or the lyrics, but because the music itself must be good, catchy and have something special."
According to the male musician, the confusion about Korean culture or music is not as important as the song spreading and when people learn more, Vietnamese music reaches the world in one way or another.
With such things, Truong Giang thinks that instead of analyzing specifically, we should applaud more.
