Launching the Student Creative Startup Ideas Competition 2024

(Fatherland) - On November 22, the launching ceremony of the Student Creative Startup Ideas Competition - APEC Innovation 2024, organized by the APEC Entrepreneurship Research and Training Institute in collaboration with the School of Business - National Economics University, took place in a bustling atmosphere, with the participation of many students.

The competition is organized with the desire to nurture, develop, perfect and realize creative and unique startup ideas into successful startup projects, contributing to socio-economic development; equip knowledge and skills about startups; promote confidence, initiative and creativity in students. At the same time, create an environment for students to form and realize startup ideas; create connections between schools, students and businesses and entrepreneurs at home and abroad.

With the goal of "Unleashing startup ideas", APEC Innovation 2024 is an opportunity to explore new, creative, and innovative ideas among students and become an incubator and launching pad for the future generation of intellectual entrepreneurs.

According to the Organizing Committee, the competition will go through 3 stages: Searching for excellent ideas; training; realizing ideas.

At the launching ceremony of the contest, Dr. Tran Duy Khanh, Director of the APEC Entrepreneurship Research and Training Institute, said: “This is the first year that the project “Starting a business with Vietnamese students” has been realized, and it is also the first year that the APEC INNOVATION Competition (Student Creative Startup Ideas) 2024 has been organized. We realize that current startup competitions are somewhat too much for students, while their accumulated capital is not available, or is only in the initial accumulation stage. First- to third-year students of most technical schools lack basic knowledge of finance, business administration, startup skills, social relations, etc. Along with that, they have to complete the learning tasks set out each school year... Therefore, participating in building startup projects to participate in competitions is extremely difficult and too much for them... Therefore, student startup projects often have low feasibility, causing a waste of time. time, effort… of students; because the main task, the focus of students sitting in university lecture halls is to study and acquire professional knowledge".

According to Dr. Tran Duy Khanh, the APEC INNOVATION competition is the first step in the long-term startup process of students.

The competition will accompany and support students to become intellectual entrepreneurs in the future with 3 phases: Phase 1 is to search for excellent ideas; organize the APEC Innovation Competition to select excellent startup ideas from students who won the competition. Phase 2 is to focus on training; students with excellent startup ideas who win the annual APEC Innovation Competition will be trained in basic and core knowledge about startups and project management skills, modern business management skills, etc. Phase 3 is to realize the ideas; APEC Entrepreneurship Institute, APEC Student Startup Fund, and Entrepreneurs will directly advise and support students with winning ideas to develop into startup projects and accompany them to realize their startup ideas to success.

Participants in the competition include: Students, student groups from universities and colleges in and outside the country with creative startup ideas (ideas about: products/technology/services/solutions...), except for projects that have won prizes in national and international startup competitions. Students can participate in the competition as individuals or teams or be introduced by universities and colleges.

The fields of participation in the contest include: Agriculture, forestry, fishery, resources, environment, climate change response, clean water...; industry, new technology, biotechnology, food technology, manufacturing technology, energy, mechanics, construction...; medicine, health care, beauty technology...; services, finance, tourism, labor, employment and education...
