Discover the appearance and vitality of Hue heritage city

On December 10, 2019, the Politburo issued Resolution No. 54-NQ/TW on Construction and Development of Thua Thien-Hue Province to 2030, with a vision to 2045; emphasizing the goal that by 2025, Thua Thien-Hue will become a centrally-run city on the basis of preserving and promoting the heritage values of the Ancient Capital and Hue's cultural identity, with cultural, heritage, ecological, landscape, environmentally friendly and smart characteristics. That goal has now been realized.

Recently, the planning of Thua Thien-Hue province for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050, and the general urban planning to 2045, with a vision to 2065 were announced. According to the planning, Thua Thien-Hue aims to become a centrally-governed city by 2025 with a typical heritage urban area of Vietnam; one of the large, unique centers of Southeast Asia in terms of culture, tourism and specialized healthcare...

According to Dr. Phan Thanh Hai - Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Thua Thien-Hue province, in the historical process of the Vietnamese nation, Hue holds a very special position . Hue has made a very important contribution to the development of the country in all aspects.

Hue plays a role in connecting the three regions of North - Central - South; is a place with a rich history and culture formed and developed through the flow of nearly 720 years of the land of Thuan Hoa - Phu Xuan - Hue, containing the quintessence , symbolic values of intelligence and civilization of the Vietnamese people. This place was once the capital of the Tay Son dynasty (1788-1801) and was also the capital of the Nguyen dynasty for 143 years (1802-1945).

Hue is currently the only locality in Vietnam and Southeast Asia with 8 heritages recognized by UNESCO ; the first locality in Vietnam to have a world heritage recognized by UNESCO since 1993 and become an official member of prestigious international heritage networks, such as the Asian Cities Network, the World Heritage Cities Organization, the Alliance of Historic Cities, etc.

Hue City represents a harmonious combination of human factors, architecture and natural landscape, along with many types of art, festivals, royal cuisine, folklore and traditions that have been restored and promoted in value.

Thanks to that, Hue is also known for its recognized titles such as Vietnam's typical Festival City , ASEAN Cultural City, ASEAN Environmentally Sustainable City, ASEAN Clean Tourism City, and National Green City.
