In fact, sports tourism has recently attracted a large number of tourists to Quang Nam and created positive contributions to the industry's revenue.
Great potential to be tapped
Sports tourism is considered an optimal solution to overcome the seasonality of tourism, as well as acting as an effective channel to promote and advertise destinations.
In addition to cultural products, there are many new proposals to enhance tourists' experiences such as sports tourism associated with golf, jogging, water sports associated with the sea and islands...
According to the proposal of businesses, there needs to be long-term research and orientation from the local side.
Specifically, it is necessary to build and upgrade infrastructure, improve the transportation system, and specialized technical facilities in a professional and modern direction. The locality should also soon have a promotion strategy to increase the opportunity to host many international sporting events.
At the same time, in the sea area, it is necessary to soon grant operating licenses for some activities such as parasailing, towing buoys, sea walking, sailing... to create conditions for businesses to exploit and develop underwater entertainment services effectively.
In addition, Quang Nam also needs to attract many large sports event organizers to organize and implement in the locality. From there, sports tourism can compete with neighboring localities such as Da Nang and Khanh Hoa.
At the recent tourism stimulus program, Mr. Vo Quang Lien Kha - Deputy General Director of Vietravel proposed that the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Quang Nam recalculate sports tourism products.
Citing a specific example, Mr. Kha said that the motorboat racing tournament in Binh Dinh has attracted a large number of domestic and international tourists to this locality.
“Quang Nam needs to research and organize national and then international golf tournaments. Currently, sports tourism products are developing positively, Quang Nam can develop this field well when local golf and resort products are growing strongly.
With the inherent brand of Hoi An City, the tourism industry should have plans to bring major events to organize, thereby forming an international tourism center as planned," Mr. Kha suggested.
Increase competitive advantage
Ms. Pham Que Anh - Director of Hoi An Express Tourism Service Trading Company Limited said that Cam An ward (Hoi An city) has many advantages to develop new products.

According to Ms. Anh, this area has a favorable geographical location, fresh natural landscape, and has received support from the province and local authorities in policies for developing marine tourism.
“However, the area is still not synchronous in terms of conditions towards green tourism (recycling waste, reducing the use of plastic products), and there are no proper sea sports activities. Therefore, Hoi An should propose that the province consider planning and re-implementing sea sports activities soon,” said Ms. Que Anh.
From the local management perspective, Mr. Nguyen Van Son - Chairman of Hoi An City People's Committee said that a business has been allowed to organize sports activities in the "dinosaur" island area.
According to Mr. Son, this enterprise will have the role of organizing services as well as supporting rescue when necessary. The time to organize sports activities will take place in the summer and will be temporarily suspended during the winter months with unfavorable weather. This will diversify tourism products for the locality, reducing the burden on the core heritage area of Hoi An Ancient Town.
Regarding golf tourism development, Mr. Pham Thanh Tri - Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Golf Tourism Association (VTGA) said that travel companies have not really paid attention to this field. Not to mention, tourism human resources have not been professionally trained to connect the Central tourism industry with golf.
According to Mr. Tri, businesses need to proactively train golf tourism human resources to meet the increasing demand of international and domestic golf tourists.
At the same time, strengthen communication so that state management agencies and people understand that golf is a sport and an economic sector exporting on-site services such as golf, dining, and sightseeing for international golf tourists.
A policy to encourage the development of sports activities connected to tourism is something to consider...
