Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman have spoken by phone about the conflict between Hamas and Israel, the first such conversation between the two leaders since Tehran and Riyadh restored diplomatic ties.
During the phone call, President Raisi and the Saudi Crown Prince discussed the current situation in the Gaza Strip and surrounding areas, as well as the need to end war crimes against Palestine, Iran's state news agency IRNA reported.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arabia's official news agency SPA reported that during the phone call, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman affirmed that Riyadh is making every effort to communicate with all regional and international parties to prevent the conflict from escalating. He stated that Saudi Arabia opposes targeting civilians and emphasized Saudi Arabia's firm stance in support of the Palestinian cause.

In March this year, under the mediation of China, Iran and Saudi Arabia agreed to restore relations, ending a seven-year hiatus after Iranian protesters attacked the headquarters of Saudi Arabia's diplomatic missions. In early June, Iran officially reopened its embassy in the capital Riyadh as well as its consulate general and representative office to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in the Saudi city of Jeddah.
