The industrial production index in January 2024 is estimated to decrease by 4.4% compared to the previous month and increase by 18.3% over the same period last year, of which the processing and manufacturing industry increased by 19.3%.

In January 2024, the whole country had 13.5 thousand newly established enterprises with registered capital of 151.5 thousand billion VND and registered labor of more than 103.4 thousand employees, an increase of 2.2% in the number of enterprises, a decrease of 2.3% in registered capital and an increase of 31.8% in the number of employees compared to December 2023. Compared to the same period last year, the number of enterprises increased by 24.8%, registered capital increased by 52.8% and the number of employees increased by 50.8%.

Some localities increased medical service prices according to Circular No. 22/2023/TT-BYT, Vietnam Electricity Group adjusted the average retail electricity price and domestic rice prices continued to increase following export rice prices, which were the main reasons for the consumer price index (CPI) in January 2024 to increase by 0.31% compared to the previous month. Compared to the same period in 2023, the CPI in January increased by 3.37%; core inflation in January 2024 increased by 2.72%.

Gasoline prices on January 25 increased following the world trend, with E5 RON 92 gasoline increasing by VND760/liter and RON 95 gasoline increasing by VND920/liter. Similarly, diesel prices increased by VND180/liter. The Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade jointly announced changes in retail gasoline prices in the new adjustment period. The application time starts from 3:00 p.m.
