In a statement posted on X, the Israeli army called on residents in some areas of the city of Deir Al-Balah to immediately move west, as the area they are in is considered a "dangerous war zone".
A Palestinian named Sawsan Abu Afesh said she and her children had been evacuated 11 times. "I don't have money to travel... I don't know where to go," the woman said. The city government said that so far, Israel's evacuation order has displaced 250,000 people.
The new orders forced many families and patients to leave Al-Aqsa Hospital, the main medical facility in Deir Al-Balah where hundreds of thousands of residents and evacuees have taken refuge. The hospital is located near the evacuation zone.
Doctors Without Borders (MSF) said on the evening of August 25 that an explosion about 250 meters from Al-Aqsa Hospital had caused panic. "MSF is therefore considering whether to suspend wound care while continuing to try to save the patient's life."
Of the approximately 650 patients, only 100 remain hospitalized, including seven in intensive care, according to Gaza's health authorities. The authority has called on medical teams to remain in the hospital to care for the 100 patients.
"This situation is unacceptable. Al Aqsa Hospital has been operating beyond capacity for weeks due to a lack of alternative options for patients. All warring parties must respect the hospital and patients' right to access medical care," the report added.
In recent days, Israel has issued multiple evacuation orders across Gaza, prompting Palestinians, the United Nations and aid officials to protest the shrinking of humanitarian areas and lack of safe zones.
In a separate statement, Gaza's health authority said Israeli air strikes had killed at least 30 Palestinians and wounded 66 others across the enclave in the past 24 hours; bringing the total Palestinian death toll to at least 40,400.
The escalation comes amid little hope of a ceasefire, as diplomatic efforts by Qatari, Egyptian and US mediators have so far failed to bridge the gap between Israel and Hamas.
Both Hamas and Israel have failed to agree to some compromises proposed by mediators at talks in Cairo on August 25, two Egyptian security sources said.
Osama Hamdan, a Hamas official, said the group rejected new conditions put forward by Israel in the talks, adding that US comments about an imminent ceasefire were false and aimed at election purposes.
US President Joe Biden and his administration are facing growing protests in the US over aid to Israel ahead of the November election.
