Thuong Tin District: 48 products are rated 3-star OCOP

(VTC News) -On November 19, the People's Committee of Thuong Tin district coordinated with the Office of the Hanoi City New Rural Development Program to organize a conference to evaluate and classify OCOP products in 2024.
Thuong Tin district develops OCOP products to promote the potential and advantages of rural areas to increase people's income; contribute to continuing to restructure the agricultural sector associated with the development of small-scale industries, occupations, services and rural tourism; promote sustainable development of the rural economy, on the basis of enhancing the application of digital transformation and circular economy, preserving cultural values, managing resources, preserving biodiversity, landscapes and rural environment, contributing to building new rural areas in depth, effectively and sustainably.

After 6 years of implementing the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program, Thuong Tin district has now had a total of 179 recognized OCOP products, including: 152 4-star products and 27 3-star products; in the district, 02 points for displaying, introducing and selling OCOP products were established in Hong Van commune and Ha Hoi commune.

In 2024, the district has 48 products participating in the evaluation, scoring, and classification of OCOP products from various subjects, in the fields of wooden handicrafts, embroidery, handicraft products, food items... The products are very diverse and rich, unique, with beautiful designs and good quality.

Through the evaluation and classification of OCOP products, Thuong Tin district can select products with the characteristics and advantages of the district, contributing to increasing the value and competitiveness of products in domestic and foreign markets, contributing to promoting production development, increasing income for people, and at the same time creating conditions for expanding and developing business for production and business establishments.

Speaking and chairing the conference, Mr. Bui Cong Than, Vice Chairman of Thuong Tin District People's Committee, said: To concretize the direction of the Prime Minister and Hanoi City, Thuong Tin District People's Committee focuses on leading and directing the implementation of the OCOP Program, adding the task of directing and managing the implementation of the OCOP Program for the period 2021 - 2025; the goal is to have 150 potential products evaluated and classified; Each commune has at least 02 potential products participating in the OCOP Program with 3 stars or more, focusing on food groups, craft village products... which are local strengths, have brands and are actively building brands.

Production establishments enjoy many benefits when participating in the OCOP Program, such as: Being granted stars for products, participating in trade promotion fairs; connecting to consume OCOP products at modern distribution channels, creating a sustainable chain, increasing value for producers, products with safe quality to meet consumer needs, increasing income for units and businesses.

The OCOP program contributes to promoting production, increasing income for people, and at the same time creating conditions for expanding and developing business for enterprises, cooperatives, and craft village production facilities, promoting business startups in rural areas. The results of the evaluation and classification session show that 48/48 products were evaluated and classified as 3-star OCOP products. After the district evaluates and classifies OCOP products, the products will complete their profiles for the City OCOP Product Evaluation and Classification Council to serve as a basis for reviewing and deciding to award stars to the products.
