To clarify the orientations and results achieved, Nhan Dan Newspaper had a conversation with Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Hanh, Director of Ninh Binh Provincial Department of Health, to learn about the province's solutions and orientations in improving population quality, contributing to sustainable socio-economic development.

Reporter: Madam, how do you evaluate the importance of improving population quality in Ninh Binh province?

Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Hanh: Improving population quality is one of the key tasks of Ninh Binh province. This is not only a health issue but also has a direct impact on sustainable socio-economic development. Population quality determines the health, intelligence, and capacity of each individual, thereby creating high-quality human resources for the development of the province.

In addition, a healthy population with knowledge and awareness of health protection will reduce the burden of disease, reduce medical costs, and create a solid foundation for the future.

Reporter: What solutions has the province implemented to improve population quality?

Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Hanh: We have implemented many synchronous solutions, focusing on different target groups.

Pre-marital health check-up: This is one of the key solutions, helping to detect early genetic diseases and congenital abnormalities. At the Provincial Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital, we provide comprehensive health check-up packages, including reproductive health consultation, in-depth testing and pre-marital vaccination.

Prenatal and newborn screening: Ninh Binh achieved a very high screening rate, with more than 75% prenatal and 80% newborn screening in 2024. This helps detect congenital malformations early for timely intervention.

The rate of prenatal screening is increasing at Ninh Binh Obstetrics and Pediatrics Hospital.

Propaganda and education: We promote propaganda work to raise people's awareness of health care, especially in remote areas.

Reporter: Can you share the difficulties the province is facing and propose solutions to overcome them?

Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Hanh: The biggest difficulty is the lack of coordination between government levels and the health sector. In addition, investment resources for health care, especially at the grassroots level, are limited.

To resolve this, we propose:

1. Increase investment: Upgrade facilities, equipment and medical human resources at grassroots levels.

2. Training and benefits: Strengthen professional training for medical staff, and improve benefits to make them feel secure in their work.

A propaganda session on the purpose and significance of the program for screening, diagnosis and treatment of some prenatal and neonatal diseases in Ninh Binh.

3. Effective communication strategy: Develop appropriate communication campaigns for each target group to raise awareness and encourage people to proactively participate in health care programs.

Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Hanh: This is a common task of the whole society, requiring close coordination between the parties:

Health sector: Providing technical solutions, professional support and organizing health care programs; people: the response and active participation of people is the decisive factor for success.

Ms. Pham Thi Phuong Hanh: We will focus on specific goals such as:

Maintain and improve prenatal and newborn screening rates; Promote reproductive health counseling for adolescents; Enhance health care for the elderly, especially regular health check-ups and health management records.

Many modern technical equipment for prenatal screening and postnatal treatment are being gradually invested in at Ninh Binh Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital.

In addition, the Provincial Maternity and Pediatrics Hospital will continue to update modern techniques and cooperate with central hospitals to improve service quality, ensuring people receive the best health care.

Reproductive health screening and counseling for women is increasingly emphasized.

It can be said that we always realize that population quality is the core factor for the sustainable development of Ninh Binh province. From pre-marital health care, prenatal screening, to elderly health care, Ninh Binh has achieved many impressive results.
