The highest viaduct on Dien Chau highway has been completed

Xuan Duong 2 is the bridge connecting Xuan Duong 1 bridge with Than Vu tunnel, located in Dien Phu commune, Dien Chau district, Nghe An province.

Hoa Hiep Company Limited held the closing ceremony of Xuan Duong 2 overpass.

The bridge has a total length of 808.4m, is a grade 1 bridge, with a total of 20 super T girder spans, each span is 40m long. Of which, the highest pillar is up to 54m, the highest on the Dien Chau - Bai Vot expressway.

Xuan Duong 2 Bridge is part of the XL04 package, with a total investment of up to 235 billion VND.

According to the project's principle contract, Xuan Duong 2 Bridge is undertaken by another contractor. However, after 1 year (until July 2022), the bridge has not been implemented as planned.

Faced with that situation, as the main investor of the project, Hoa Hiep Company Limited is ready to take over the project to ensure the progress committed to the government and the Ministry of Transport.

“When taking over, the old contractor had done almost nothing. As soon as construction began, geological differences were encountered, which led to an additional adjustment of 2,336m of bored pile length.

Specifically, according to the original design, the bored piles were 3,418m long, but later had to be adjusted to 5,754m. The additional cost was up to 20 billion VND, and Hoa Hiep had to pay out of his own pocket, because the BOT contract was a lump sum contract, with no contingency.

In addition, the construction of the tower is high, up to more than 50m, with rugged and precarious terrain. However, Hoa Hiep has mobilized a team of experienced technical staff and highly skilled workers, with high-capacity equipment.

Overcoming all difficulties, within just 12 months, Hoa Hiep Company constructed and closed Xuan Duong 2 bridge.

If a normal bridge girder only needs a 100-ton crane, for Xuan Duong 2 bridge, we have to mobilize 2 250-ton cranes, combined with longitudinal girder thrusters," Mr. Pham Chien Huu, Deputy Director of Hoa Hiep Company Limited, recounted and added:

In addition to the above difficulties, the bridge construction process coincided with the skyrocketing price of raw materials and fuel, causing the contractor to face difficulties upon difficulties.

However, as soon as it was accepted, Hoa Hiep determined the spirit of "only discussing work, no backtracking"; Hundreds of cadres, engineers, and workers "ate and slept quickly", carried out construction in "3 shifts, 4 shifts", "worked through holidays and Tet".

Overcoming all difficulties, within 12 months (from March 2023 to present), Hoa Hiep has completed the final span, creating a miracle on the Dien Chau - Bai Vot project.

According to Mr. Huu, after the closing ceremony, the unit will continue construction with the highest spirit, completing the bridge deck and railings to bring the project to completion on schedule on April 30 as directed by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.
