On October 14, Mr. Thai Van Truyen - General Director of Saigon Railway Transport Joint Stock Company announced the above information.
Accordingly, in order to meet the travel needs of passengers during the Lunar New Year 2025, the railway industry has organized ticket sales from October 1.
To date, after 2 weeks of ticket sales, more than 62,000 tickets have been paid for.
Currently, the number of tickets remaining for Tet 2025 is as follows: Before Tet, there are still tickets on all routes, including tickets from January 22 and before and from January 26 to January 28, 2025 (ie December 23 and before and December 27 to 29) to all stations.
From January 23 to January 25, 2025 (December 24 to 26), there are still many tickets to Phan Thiet, Nha Trang, other stations mainly have soft seats. After Tet, there are still many tickets to all days, all stations.
During the 2025 Lunar New Year, the railway industry will not sell extra seats. Many seat cars will be converted into sleeper compartments, reducing the number of seats but providing more comfort for passengers. Therefore, the total number of seats available during the Lunar New Year is expected to be around 167,000 with 388 trains, a decrease of around 38,000 seats compared to last year.
This is one of the reasons why train ticket prices for Tet this year have increased by 4-5%. The longest route from Saigon to Hanoi has the highest ticket price of over 3.2 million VND, the lowest is over 2.2 million VND on peak days. In particular, there is a VIP open-cabin train with only two beds, each bed costs 6.4 million VND, for passengers who want private space.
Regarding the train schedule for Tet this year, the railway industry has planned from January 15 to February 16, 2025 (ie from December 16 to January 19 of the lunar calendar). There will be 22 pairs of trains running each day, including 9 pairs of Thong Nhat passenger trains (Saigon - Hanoi) and 13 pairs of regional trains (short trips to provinces and cities).
Regarding preferential policies to support train passengers, the railway industry applies discounts for social policy beneficiaries, union members, and passengers with customer cards.
3% discount on ticket prices for trains departing from Saigon station on January 27 (December 28) and traveling 1,000 km or more,
5% discount on return ticket price for passengers buying round-trip tickets, especially students will get a discount from 10% to 20% on ticket price depending on the travel date.
On the first day of Tet train ticket sales, many people lined up from dawn at Saigon station.
