More than 10 thousand lanterns were released at the 2024 Giap Thin Spring Lantern Festival

– On the evening of February 25 (January 16, the year of the Dragon), at Thanh Pagoda, Lang Son city, the Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha of Lang Son province organized a lantern festival to pray for national peace and prosperity in the year of the Dragon 2024.

Attending the program were comrade Giap Thi Bac, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Mass Mobilization Commission; Doan Thi Loan, member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Secretary of Lang Son City Party Committee; representatives of leaders of a number of departments and branches of the province and the city, along with a large number of Buddhist followers, people in the province and tourists from all over the country.

Lanterns are images associated with Buddhist culture through thousands of years of history. Lighting the lamp in the lantern symbolizes lighting the lamp of wisdom, guiding and showing people the way to good things. The light of the lantern also symbolizes the truth. The lantern festival to pray for national peace and prosperity is a ritual that has existed since the Ly Dynasty, with the meaning of honoring the image of peace, tranquility and prosperity of the country and people.

Performance at the gala

At the festival, delegates, people and tourists offered incense and prayed and released more than 10 thousand flower lanterns into Ky Cung River. Each flower lantern released expressed good wishes for a prosperous new year and for Lang Son to develop more and more.

Most Venerable Thich Quang Truyen, Member of the Central Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Head of the Provincial Executive Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, delivered the opening speech at the flower lantern festival.

The lantern festival night aims to respond to the series of festival activities of the province, creating a joyful and exciting atmosphere for people and tourists on the occasion of Spring Giap Thin 2024.
