TPO - Contractors are building stone retaining walls; drainage culverts, reinforced concrete retaining walls, surface drainage ditches, regulating lakes... to prevent the recurrence of flooding and cars being swept away on the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway.
The 99 km Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway, connecting Dong Nai and Binh Thuan, started construction in September 2020 with a total investment of more than VND 12,500 billion, with a scale of 6 lanes, and the entire route will be opened to traffic on April 30, 2023. |
By the early morning of July 29, 2023, heavy rain caused water to overflow into the Phan Thiet - Dau Giay highway, causing the section passing through Ham Tan district at Km25+419 to be deeply flooded. Many cars were submerged in water and unable to move. |
Working with leaders of functional departments and agencies of Binh Thuan province, Executive Director of the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet Expressway Project Dang Hung Thai affirmed that the cause of severe flooding was due to heavy rain and water discharged from the Phan River dam, not due to problems with culvert placement or project design. |
After the above incident, the Thang Long Project Management Board - the investor of the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway project, said that it had agreed on a plan to prevent flooding on the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway, the section through Song Phan commune, with the People's Committee of Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province. |
According to the design plan of the additional bid package, on the left side of the route at Km25, a rock retaining wall with a length of more than 100m is designed. |
In addition, the authorities built the bridge and added a reinforced concrete retaining wall about 15m long. |
Currently, the contractor is completing the rock retaining wall, adding drainage ditches, and building a regulating lake to increase the regulating force and prevent flooding at Km25 (Song Phan commune, Ham Tan district, Binh Thuan province). |
A drainage culvert is being built to prevent flooding on the highway. |
The water wall is under construction. |
A reinforced concrete retaining wall about 15m long is gradually taking shape. From Km 25+200 to Km 25+420 on the left side of the route, a surface drainage ditch is designed, divided into two parallel ditches, one part collects road surface water and discharges it through a sewer through the collector road; the other part flows into the manhole at the sewer at Km 25+419. |
Workers are constructing a reservoir with a capacity of 831 m3. This construction method is expected by the investor and the expressway design consultant to prevent severe flooding like the early morning of July 29, 2023. |
The Phan Thiet - Dau Giay Expressway starts from the section connecting National Highway 1A to My Thanh (Binh Thuan province) at the end of the Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet Expressway project. The end point intersects with the Ho Chi Minh City - Long Thanh - Dau Giay Expressway, in Thong Nhat district (Dong Nai province). |
