Sentosa Island was formerly known as Pulau Blakang Mati. After undergoing a major change after World War II, the island was renamed Sentosa, meaning "peace and tranquility". Today, this place is considered a paradise of sun, sand and waves, gathering many works and tourist destinations typical of the lion island.
Visitors can find tropical beaches, luxury hotels, and a variety of entertainment venues, shopping, and dining experiences. In 2025, Sentosa Island is expected to offer visitors new experiences, including the Illumination's Minion Land theme park. Photo: TIH, Singapore Tourism Board
Illumination's Minion Land is the newest area of Sentosa Island, officially opened on February 14 at Universal Studios Singapore. Based on the famous animated film Despicable Me , the entire area has many attractions, dining and shopping.
The highlight is the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem game with modern motion simulation technology, providing realistic images, recreating the world of yellow characters wearing blue overalls. Players will be able to explore Gru's house, transform into minions, and play fun games with the characters. You can also choose to sit on the Ferris wheel to observe the whole scene from above. Minion Land consists of three areas: Minion Marketplace, Gru's Neighborhood and Super Silly Fun Land.
Minion Marketplace is like a mini shopping mall with Sweet Surrender candy store; Pop Store cartoon and accessories; Fun Store toy store. A special Minion Sakura edition collection with exclusive accessories and stationery will also be released in March this year.
With Gru's Neighborhood, visitors will experience the Despicable Me Minion Mayhem slide, visit Gru's lab, and even interact with the "evil" family as they appear on the ride.
Super Silly Fun Land brings a festive atmosphere with a variety of rides, interactive games and themed restaurants. The entire area is open from 11am to 8pm daily (subject to change depending on the season) at 8 Sentosa Gateway, Sentosa Island. Photo: Universal Studios Singapore
Another unique experience when coming to Sentosa is the SkyHelix Sentosa "flying ship". Visitors will be taken to a height of 35 meters by an open-air gondola to see the whole "paradise island" and the surrounding coastline. The cable car will slowly rise and rotate for 10 minutes at the highest point.
The ideal time to experience the game is at sunset. You can bring food and drinks to enjoy. The conveniently designed storage rack makes it easy to store personal items, ensuring a complete and comfortable trip. Photo:

SkyHelix Sentosa is also the island’s first carbon-neutral destination, contributing to sustainable development efforts with a low carbon footprint, just a flight from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur. The venue is open from 10am to 9pm daily at 41 Imbiah Walk. Families with young children are advised to arrive early to save time queuing. Photo: Klook
If you like thrills or are passionate about speed, visitors can race go-karts indoors at HyperDrive Sentosa. The 308-meter track, spread over three floors, has steep sections, sharp turns, and twists... like driving skill challenges. Photo: Sentosa Island
Newbies and experienced players can choose between two levels: Novice (30 km/h) and Advanced (50 km/h). Novice does not require a driver's license, while Advanced requires a driver's license to ensure safety when conquering the challenging track. HyperDrive is open until 9pm every day at 1 Sentosa Gateway. Photo: Sentosa Island
Besides entertainment, cuisine is also an attraction for tourists to the "paradise island" Sentosa. One of them is the Ocean Restaurant, managed by famous chef Olivier Bellin. The restaurant is located in Resorts World Sentosa, famous for its unique space and high-end menu. Visitors can enjoy their meals while watching diverse marine life in a giant water tank.
The Berlin chef now owns the two-Michelin-starred restaurant L'Augerge des Glazicks. He is known for his dishes that combine the essence of modern European cuisine with sustainable seafood and agricultural products. The restaurant is open from 11:30am-3pm and 6pm-10:30pm daily at 8 Sentosa Gateway. Photo: Tatler Asia
If you prefer to enjoy an American-style barbecue in an open space, close to nature, you can choose Panamericana restaurant on the cliffs of Sentosa. In addition to the spacious outdoor space, this place also has a beautiful view straight out to the Singapore Strait. The restaurant is located at 27 Bukit Manis Road, Sentosa Golf Club, with different opening hours depending on the occasion. Visitors should refer to the information before visiting. The final destination on the suggested itinerary to explore Sentosa Island is the largest Lego store in Southeast Asia, located right in Resorts World Sentosa, open from 10am to 9pm every day. This is a rare place that owns a Lego Mosaic Maker in the first area. In addition, visitors can find countless building sets suitable for both adults and children.
With a variety of entertainment, dining, and shopping options, Sentosa Island will be an "all-in-one" destination, optimizing the entertainment experience for international visitors, especially families with young children, when coming to Singapore. Photo: Little Steps Asia
