Ba Ria - Vung Tau province has launched a green living festival program to promote environmental protection and sustainable development of local islands.
On December 17, in Con Dao (Ba Ria - Vung Tau), a green living festival program was launched to promote environmental protection and sustainable development of the sea and islands of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in 2024 with the theme "For green sea and islands".

The event was organized by the Department of Information and Communications of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province in coordination with the People's Committee of Con Dao district to call for awareness from the community, residents and tourists to contribute to preserving the marine environment, developing the economy and sustainable tourism.
At the event, Mr. Truong Huu Chien, Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Communications of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province, said that the locality has always been consistent in its policy of pursuing development without sacrificing the environment. Therefore, the Department of Information and Communications has determined that environmental protection is a vital and continuous task of the province.
"This year's Green Living Festival program aims to affirm determination, change awareness, unify actions, and proactively overcome difficulties and challenges. Prevent the increase in the rate of pollution and environmental degradation, exploit and sustainably use marine and island resources, and ensure ecological balance. At the same time, the event also aims to gradually replace the use of hard-to-decompose plastic bags with environmentally friendly products," Mr. Truong Huu Chien shared.
It is known that this is the third time the green living festival has taken place with the participation of many agencies, youth unions, students and the enthusiastic response of people and tourists.
This year, the event was held in Con Dao district, a land rich in cultural, historical and revolutionary traditions, a locality with positive changes in socio-economic development, especially with great tourist attraction.
The program has a number of key activities such as organizing garbage collection, cleaning the marine environment at the beach area, Hang Keo cemetery and surrounding areas. Giving away reusable cloth bags to replace plastic bags in daily life activities. Launching a "green gift basket" contest.
The 2024 Green Living Festival also saw the appearance of Miss Universe Vietnam 2017 H'Hen Nie to inspire the community. She participated in activities to clean up the marine environment, distribute reusable cloth bags, serve as a jury member for the "green gift basket" contest, visit Hang Duong Cemetery, Hang Keo Cemetery, visit Con Dao National Park... The beauty queen hopes that tourists coming to Con Dao will also have a common awareness and join the community in preserving the environment.
