The final match of the group stage of the Vietnam women's football team did not go as planned when they lost 1-2 to the Philippines women's team. However, the Vietnam women's team still won a ticket to the Semi-finals with the top position in Group A.

Speaking after the match with the Philippines, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “We tried very hard, lost the penalty, our low and high defense were not good. The opponent only played high balls and did not coordinate well. We lost in height. The defenders did not play well. The midfielders and strikers tried very hard. After losing a goal, we equalized, but then lost a free kick, Vietnam lost too much in stature." According to him, the lack of a central defender like Chuong Thi Kieu made the team face difficulties.
Coach Mai Duc Chung added: "Yesterday afternoon, we practiced the plan to counter the high ball. The defense line was not focused and still had some lapses. We will have to practice countering Thailand, we need to fix it right away". He emphasized: "Through this match, the team must learn from experience to overcome it more strongly. We will stay and study the match between Thailand and Cambodia to come up with a reasonable strategy against Cambodia to reach the final".
Regarding refereeing, coach Mai Duc Chung said: “Refereeing is a problem for the teams. The match is over, but the referee missed too many mistakes, even with the Philippines.”
For his part, Philippines coach Alen Stajcic said: “We won, that’s the truth. We tried our best but winning was not enough. This was our best performance. We faced the strongest opponents. Unfortunately, the goal difference was not enough. We will go home and continue to prepare for better performances. We won them twice in a row. This is unprecedented in history and opens up new eras. It shows that we have a positive attitude and we want to win. I think we showed it today - fighting until the end. We were able to compete at this level and this is just part of the journey. We are a very young team and we have a lot of time.”
