TPO - The Meteorological Agency forecasts that in March, the Southern region will continue to experience widespread heat. At the same time, the region will have very little chance of unseasonal rain, if any, it will only be insignificant.
According to the Southern Hydrometeorological Station, in February, the weather in the South was almost rainless, except for February 27 when there was some rain in some places with an amount of about 5-10mm. In the first half of the month, cold air still greatly affected the weather in the region, so there were days when the weather was a bit chilly and there was light fog in the early morning. In the second half of the month, cold air was weak and the waves of strengthening to the south gradually decreased.
At the same time, the low pressure in the west is getting stronger and affecting the weather in the region. Therefore, the heat wave is increasing in the Southern region. Heat waves with the highest temperature above 35 degrees Celsius appear more and more frequently with an increasingly widening area.
The average temperature in February in the South is generally 1 to 2 degrees Celsius higher than the average of many years. In Tri An (Dong Nai) and So Sao (Binh Duong), it is over 2 degrees Celsius. The absolute highest temperature is 38 degrees Celsius in Bien Hoa (Dong Nai) on February 15.

Forecasting the weather situation in March, the Southern Hydrometeorological Station said that according to the forecast of the Climate Centers in the world, the El Nino state is gradually weakening and the possibility of transitioning to the neutral phase from April to June has a probability of about 80%; After that, it is the period of La Nina gradually becoming stronger.
Model forecast products from the world's climate centers mostly show that the rainfall forecast for March 2024 is lower than the average. The average temperature in March is 1-2 degrees Celsius higher than the average.
The weather and situation in the Southern region in March is forecasted as follows:
During the first week of the month, on the first two days, the region continued to be affected by the southern edge of the cold air mass that strengthened and shifted east. Then, in the middle of the week, the hot low pressure in the west became active and strongly affected the weather in the region from March 3-6.
From March 7-10, the hot low pressure will weaken, and cold air will strengthen and shift to the east. Above, the subtropical high pressure axis will pass through the South Central and Southern regions and will be active almost all week.
During the first 10 days of March, the weather in the South will be hot and sunny without rain. On March 2, 5 and 7, there is a possibility of light showers in some places with insignificant amounts. The lowest temperature is from 23-26 degrees Celsius, the highest is from 34-36 degrees Celsius in the Eastern region and the Southwestern border; 33-35 degrees Celsius in the Western region.
Mid-March week: Low pressure trough and hot low pressure area develop in southwestern China and the northwestern region. The subtropical high pressure axis passes through the south central region and the south. The weather in the south is generally rainless and sunny during the day. Hot weather with the highest temperature above 35-37 degrees Celsius appears widely in the East and the southwestern border for many days. There is very little chance of unseasonal rain, if any, it will be only insignificant.

Last week of March: The Southern region is mainly affected by the edge of the hot low pressure in the west, centered in southern China and the Northwest, along with the influence of the subtropical high pressure in the upper layers. The weather is generally rainless, with a possibility of light rain in some places in the last few days of the month. A few days of intense heat with the highest temperature above 37 degrees Celsius in the Eastern region and some places in the Western region.
“In March, the Southern region will have little to no rain. It is necessary to be on guard against the possibility of a shortage of fresh water for daily life and crops. Widespread heat waves will appear in many waves across most of the region. Be on guard against widespread, intense heat waves in the Eastern region and the southwestern border of the Western region for many long periods of time,” the Southern Hydrometeorological Station warned.
