Gia Lai Two 10th grade female students in Dak Po district fought in front of many witnesses on the day of receiving their new class.
On September 8, Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thanh, Principal of Y Don Secondary and High School, said the incident happened more than a week ago.
That day was the day the 10th grade students of the school came to receive their classes. Due to a conflict, two female students of class 10A4 made an appointment to meet outside the school area to resolve it, and then got into a fight. Many classmates stood nearby cheering, encouraging, and used their phones to record the incident.
In a video circulating online, two female students in black shirts curse and wrestle. One is thrown to the concrete floor, has her hair grabbed, and is slapped and kicked repeatedly in the face. She then falls and lies motionless for a while.
"The school has worked with the students, but the fight happened outside the school so the police are working together to clarify and find a way to handle it," said Mr. Thanh.

Student fights often occur as soon as students return to school. At the end of August, an eighth-grade girl in Ha Tinh was stripped naked and beaten on the street by her classmates. In Hanoi, a ninth-grade student was beaten by three adults at a game shop by her classmates and had to be hospitalized. Videos of similar incidents have also been circulating in Hau Giang and Quang Tri.
Before the new school year, the Ministry of Education and Training identified school violence as one of the problems in the sector. The Ministry estimated that nearly 7,100 students were involved in school violence in 2022.
According to current regulations of the Ministry, student discipline for violations includes three forms: warning, reprimand and temporary suspension from school.
