Darren Fletcher's two sons captain different teams. |
Darren Fletcher has probably never been so proud. Last week, the former Manchester United star's twin sons, Jack and Tyler Fletcher, both captained their national youth teams. Notably, the brothers captained two different teams, England and Scotland, during the same international break.
Darren, who won 80 caps for Scotland and captained them 16 times, now gets to see the next generation of his family take to the big stage in a special way.
Initially, the twins chose to play for England at youth level. However, in October 2023, Tyler decided to switch to Scotland, following in the footsteps of his legendary father. The move led to a rare situation.
The Fletcher twins both captained different teams in the same international break. Tyler captained Scotland U19s in a defeat to Poland on 22 March, while Jack led England U18s in a 2-2 draw with Czechia on 20 March.
The remarkable event came just days after Jack scored a brace for Man Utd's Under-21s in a 5-1 win over West Brom, both goals coming from Tyler's own assists.
The talented duo grew up at Man City academy, before being recruited by MU. And up to now, the two Fletcher children have shown great potential at youth level, with skills, intelligence and leadership qualities.
