Man City striker Erling Haaland covers the Man Utd logo on a young fan's shirt while taking a photo together.
When he returned to visit his old club Bryne in his native Norway, Haaland was surrounded by a group of young fans asking to take a photo with them. Among them was a fan wearing a Man Utd shirt. Haaland agreed, but after seeing the fan's shirt, he paused for a moment, covered the logo with his hand, and then allowed the photo to be taken.
After taking the photo, Haaland also told the fans: "Find another shirt to wear."
Haaland's actions have caused mixed reactions. Man City fans and neutral fans believe that the 22-year-old striker was just being funny. But others are not satisfied, saying that Haaland is rude and disrespectful to Man Utd.
"Just leave the logo there and take a picture. Rival clubs but not enemies," Twitter account @MadeinArsenal6 commented. Another commented: "Shameful action by Haaland. Love for children should overcome rivalry between clubs. Haaland will never be like Rashford when it comes to his behavior towards children."
Haaland exploded in his first season with Man City, scoring 52 goals in 53 games, contributing greatly to the club's treble. In the Premier League, he and his teammates overcame Arsenal in the title race. In the FA Cup final, they defeated Man Utd 2-1. And in the Champions League, Man City defeated Inter 1-0 in the final to win this tournament for the first time.
Haaland was on the verge of joining Man Utd in 2018, when his former coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer offered to buy him from Molde for around $5 million. But the Norwegian striker refused, going to Borussia Dortmund.
Haaland is in Norway, after playing in the Euro 2024 qualifiers with the national team, losing 1-2 to Scotland and winning 3-1 against Cyprus. He will rest for a few weeks before returning to Man City to prepare for the new season. The Etihad team will play a friendly against Bayern on July 26.
