By helping Man City win the Champions League for the first time and completing the treble this season, Guardiola has gone down in history as one of the greatest managers in English football. However, the British newspaper Guardian asserts that this achievement could also be the reason why the Spanish coach decided to leave the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola recently extended his contract with Man City for another two and a half years in November 2022. He can leave for free after the 2024-2025 season ends. Previously, the 52-year-old coach had hinted that he would not leave Man City until the club won the Champions League. Now, having realized that goal, Guardiola wants to conquer a new challenge.
According to the Daily Mail , if he leaves Man City, Guardiola is likely to move to work in Italy or France. He wants to win the top five European leagues. Previously, Guardiola won La Liga with Barca, Bundesliga with Bayern and Premier League with Man City. In addition, leading a national team could also be a potential destination.
In seven years at Man City, Guardiola won five Premier League titles, two FA Cups, four League Cups and one Champions League. He could add the European Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup next season.
Alongside Guardiola, the future of Man City captain Ilkay Gundogan is also in question. Barca are said to be keen on the German midfielder of Turkish origin despite his age of 32. The Catalan club have even drawn up a three-year contract to convince Gundogan. Arsenal are also pursuing the midfielder. But Man City could offer Gundogan another year as they did in the summer of 2022.
